Thanks for sharing your story with us Xzandria. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Kreative Designz was launched in 2004 when I was asked to make invitations for an upcoming wedding. I was so pleased with the final product that I decided to step out on Faith and start my own small business creating invitations. My creativity seemed to blossom with every order that I completed. Being able to create invitations gave me a sense of peace along with an awesome feeling just to see my work come to life. For several years I only focused on invitations, thank you cards and brochures until a soror (Delta Sigma Theta) asked me to bling out a pair of converse for her daughter’s 1st birthday. As with anything, I was nervous and hesitant about taking on the order, but again I stepped out on Faith and accepted the challenge. While working on them, it was like a whole new world of creativity was born and from that point customizing converse was the headline for Kreative Designz.
Has it been a smooth road?
Overall it has been a smooth road, however I have had my share of challenges. My biggest challenges have been determining the cost of products that Kreative Designz offers as well as explaining the sometimes lengthy turnaround time for customized items. I’ve noticed that everyone loves customized items, but not everyone wants to pay the price for those items. I believe that the items I offer are fairly priced, but as with anything there is a cost. I take pride in my work so it has always been my goal to provide each person that patronizes Kreative designz with the best service all around. When it comes to the turnaround time, which can be anywhere between 2 and 4 weeks depending on the item(s) ordered some are not always willing to wait that long to receive their order. I am a one woman show for the most part and each rhinestone and/or pearl is laid by hand which warrants some time. The most stones I’ve laid on a pair of shoes has been about 2,500 stones. It is my job to explain the process to each potential customer with hopes that they will allow me to create a customized item for their special event.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kreative Designz story. Tell us more about the business.
Kreative Designz offers a various amount of customized items, ranging from custom chucks, t-shirts, tumblers, pillows, tutus, hair bows etc. Kreative Designz is pretty much known for Bling and lots of it. I am most proud of Kreative Designz as a whole. As a result of the long nights and the hard work and dedication that I have put in, I have watched Kreative Designz evolve over the years. There are a lot of companies that offer the same service(s) as Kreative Designz, but what sets Kreative Designz apart from others is that I like to consider Kreative Designz as one stop shop you can get your shirt, shoes, hair bows, tutus, etc. made by the same company vs ordering one item here and one item there.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see Kreative Designz continuing to grow and hopefully expanding to the point where I can have a team of creative employees.
