Today we’d like to introduce you to Case Cortez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Case. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I graduated from Abilene Christian in 2012 with a business management degree pre physical therapy period during my course of time at ACU I was a student athletic trainer. I wanted to own and operate my own gym slash Fitness Center ants obtaining my business degree and having the sports medicine background. When I graduated I had a family to take care of and had to look for a job as soon as possible. But that was not an easy task. I was looking for an entry-level business job all over DFW. I eventually started working in management at the retail level to make ends meet while still pursuing my passions by Personal Training on the side. I was also a football coach and strength and conditioning coach at Carrollton Christian Academy for a period of time. With all the hours I was working I was missing out on time with the family and still struggling financially. I eventually but a pause on all my extracurricular passions (fitness training / coaching) to obtain a warehouse management position. Financially my family was taken care of, but I was not happy with my job. I stuck it out for almost 2 years before I decided to pursue a career that would utilize my fitness/sports medicine background. I put my two weeks in and started searching. I put my faith in God that my family and I would be taken care of during this transition. Two days after posting my fitness resume, I received a call for an interview with Camp Gladiator and 6 weeks later I was on the field training campers! It’s been the best decision, I’ve ever made. Owning my business is such a blessing. It’s been the hardest thing I have ever done, but also the most rewarding!
Camp Gladiator is an outdoor group fitness program that is in the business of changing fitness and changing lives. Camp Gladiator has been on the Inc. 5000 list for the past 5 years and continues to grow and be disruptive in the fitness industry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth, but I’ve always believed it’s not where you are going but the road you take to get there. I tell my campers to “enjoy the process”. Everyone has goals they chase after, fitness wise, financially, careers, family, etc., you can’t be too focused on the end result. You must be disciplined and consistent in your day to day operation in order to achieve long term success.
My road has definitely had its bumps and bruises, its turn around and restarts. I wouldn’t have it any other way. It has got me to where I’m at now and I couldn’t be happier!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Camp Gladiator – what should we know?
I am a certified personal trainer for Camp Gladiator in Lewisville Texas. I have been a CG trainer for 3 years and have loved every minute of it. Camp Gladiator is a life-changing fitness movement dedicated to transforming lives through dynamic, fun and challenging workouts led by amazing Trainers who inspire you to discover your best self!
I specialize in NO RUN workouts ha! My campers have a love hate relationship with these workouts, because they know they won’t have to run, BUT they will definitely be making up for it.
I am very proud of the opportunity that Ally and Jeff Davidson (CEOs and Co-Founders of CG) have given me. I have been given the opportunity to affect positive change in world. Through giving back to the community, helping my campers achieve their fitness goals, helping my business partners grow and get better, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries with the campers through the relationships we’ve built. That’s what sets us apart. The community. The CG Family is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. This isn’t a job. This is my life’s work!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think to be successful you need to keep in my mind, that you might not always be in control of every situation you face, but you always have control over your ATTITUDE, your WORK ETHIC, and the CHOICES that you make.
