Today we’d like to introduce you to Keiandrea Daniels.
Keiandrea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I always grew up loving Fashion. I always had an eye for it. As I got older I got interested in becoming a fashion stylist and after being mentored by my high school teacher Mrs. Blackmon I later became a self-taught designer. I started practicing my craft, teaching myself a little at a time. I crashed and burned sooooooo many times. But those crashes ultimately made me stronger as a business woman and as a designer. At the same time I was dealing with medical conditions that halted me from being able to work a regular job consistently. I suffered from seizures, migraines, and a spinal condition that would cause me to be unable to move or walk some days. During my down times I would pour myself into my dreams. I ultimately realized that God have me those disabilities so that I would not depend on a regular job, but instead depend on Him to evolve my craft and make it work for me. I now have become so great at what I do. God has opened so many doors for me and my business. I have been allowed the opportunity to travel and show my work to celebrities. I also am now making bridal dresses for beautiful brides which is something that I always said I would NEVER do. But never say never lol. Each day is a new day to learn and I’m enjoying all of it.
Has it been a smooth road?
I had a hard time with becoming a business woman. It was very hard for me to put my foot down when it came to policies and working with clients. I cried many nights because I felt that I wasn’t able to make them happy or because I felt that my work was not good enough. I quit so many times from my business after things would get rough but then I would always end up back on my feet again.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the KDaniels Designs story. Tell us more about the business.
KDaniels Designs is a custom design house. We actually sketch you out a design after speaking with you about your visions. We then actually make a pattern for your body, purchase fabric, and hand make your garment from start to finish. It is not a factory. Each garment is made with love. We pride ourselves on being able to have one on one relationships with all of our clients.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5 years I definitely see KDaniels Designs in its own building. I definitely want to be able to hire workers to help get garments out during peak seasons and also to handle customer service. Clientele is picking up so it may come sooner than later.
