Art & Life with ATG All Tyme da G

Today we’d like to introduce you to ATG All Tyme da G.

ATG All Tyme da G is an unsigned hip hop artist out the Dallas/Fort Worth area who has opened for Snoop Dogg, Lil Wyte, Baby Bash, Mr. Pookie, Young Bleed, Lil Will, DSR and others. With an album “Population Control” dropping sometime this summer, ATG has already dropped two music videos and promises to drop at least 5 videos out of the 7-8 tracks featured on it.

ATG has been a stable on the local scene for years, performing Crown & Harp, Murphy’s, PRYME, Expo Bar, Dirty 30, Curtain Club, Reno’s Chop Shop and others, weaving in and out of various circles gaining fans and connections for the eventual drop of something big!

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
“I prefer to be an all-around artist and talk about everything else, to educate and entertain at the same time. These days all you hear is club and trap music when there is a whole entire spectrum of feelings, emotion and subject matter most rappers won’t even touch.”

ATG grew up listening to his parent’s vinyl record collection, ranging from Parliament Funkadelic to Stevie Wonder to Michael Jackson, and eventually moved onto hip hop in early puberty hiding NWA and Wu Tang tapes in fear of them getting destroyed due to the lyrics, which a lot of them did after being discovered. “I was influenced by everybody from Slick Rick to Outkast all the way to newer artists like Kendrick Lamar and J Cole, so I like to give the audience a fresh take on hip hop with more subject matter than the trap/drug dealing/party/strip club music that seems to be all the radio plays.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
“Get registered with BMI or ASCAP so you can collect royalties from your shows! I was performing solo and as a group for years and missed out on a lot of money earlier in my career because I didn’t have anybody to tell me about all that,” says ATG, “And make sure you register and copyright every song that you make, even if you haven’t performed it yet.” “And watch out for scammers and janky promoters running blow up quick schemes trying to scam artists out of their money. I’ve dealt with a few of those in the past.” “And be sure to be you and not copy everybody else’s style and swagger.”

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
ATG keeps busy by doing at least two shows a month and in recent years has opened for Snoop Dogg, Lil Wyte, Young Bleed, Baby Bash, and local Dallas acts such as Mr. Pookie, DSR, Lil Will, C Struggs and others. ATG usually keeps his fans up to date by uploading links to his music and flyers for his shows on Instagram and Twitter, using the username @ATGAllTymedaG for most social media platforms. As a registered BMI artist, ATG collects royalty checks from time to time, “which I usually store away as bitcoin” he says.

ATG is nearly finished with his album, “Population Control”, which is supposed to drop later this summer and already has two videos for the first two singles, “Dynasty” and “Black Rothschild”, on YouTube. Look for “Population Control” and other projects by ATG All Tyme da G on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, BandCamp, and other major streaming sites and online stores.
