Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Steward.
Isaiah, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am a 17-year-old r&b singer, dancer and model in Fort Worth. Most of my life I was dedicated to playing football. I was the quarterback and played since I was 6 years old. I played 5 years for NFL Hall of framer Deion Sanders. I attended all the camps I could throughout the years. After a shoulder injury, knee injury and 2 concussions I decided to give up football for singing.
This was about 1 1/2 years ago. I recently ended a 10-month artist development program that provided me all I needed to get my music career in the right direction. I am now working on my original music. I also model and have been since I was 11. I have been in many commercials, print ads and will walk in a fashion show July 29th.
I will be starting my senior year of high school and will be an online private school. This will allow me to have more time to work on my music. I like to give back and will hand out socks when it’s cold to the homeless in downtown Fort Worth. With my Grandmother Karen and parents Philip and Dianne we do this under a non-profit that we created called SOCKS Stewards of Christ’s Kingdom. I give all glory to God and thank him for my many blessings.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Music has always been something I enjoyed but wasn’t so interested in it at first. I used to be on a drum line and loved doing that but football was what I always thought about first. It was a tough decision to make but knowing too many concussions is not good when I was only 15at that time. I had to sit down with my parents and make the best decision for me, for my future. I hope when someone makes the decision stop doing something they love and that have done for years that they consider both the pros and cons of that decision. Stick with it and stand by that decision always. No regrets.
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
All my life I have also heard people talk of my looks and talent but I wanted to be more than that. I wanted to prove these God given talents were not taken for granted. I work hard and have musical inspirations. Some of these are Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Usher and most definitely Michael Jackson. These are just a few. These artists have proven themselves for many years and show what hard work can do for someone that is up and coming. These artists are musical geniuses.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I am currently working on getting my website going but I post mostly on Instagram at @Isaiah. Steward. I do also post my music and photos on Facebook at @isaiahsings and YouTube. I perform all over the DFW metroplex.
