Thanks for sharing your story with us Crystal. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always loved the arts; Painting, drawing. And crafting things has always been a passion of mine. So when photography came into my life it was so fulfilling and exciting for me. I bought my first camera in 2009, and I shot for friends and family in the beginning while I was learning. Eventually I started my company Crystal Forbes Photography. It took a lot of work, late nights editing and studying to get where I’m at today. But the Last 5 years I have really honed my skill and felt a calling to expand my business further. I love everything sparkle, floral, love, and life and what better way to be in the mix of all that then to be a wedding photographer! And so I developed Ivory Bliss Wedding Photography. I get so much joy in being that person who is there to capture all the special moments between you and your loved ones. I am such a perfectionist and I think that shows through the work I produce. I want your perfect special day to be reflected as that in the pictures I create. I’m just a fun and happy person and I genuinely appreciate every client that comes my way and just so honored when I’m chosen to be part of these special moments in people’s lives.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely been a struggle to get where I am today. The market is so saturated with photographers it’s super hard to get noticed or to separate yourself and work from the pack. In the beginning it was so hard to even get advice or direction from other photographers. I also worked a full time job while trying to build my brand. When I got pregnant and had my daughter my entire life changed and so did my priorities. It killed me every day I had to leave her to go to work but that pushed me to turn my business into something successful and allow me the time to have with her and my family. It took a year but with a lot of work and prayer, I was able to leave my job and pursue my photography passion full time. I know regardless of the struggles I have faced through my journey that in the end I will succeed. Through every struggle there has been lessons to learn and with that I can only get better and stronger as a photographer and as a person and I’m grateful for that.
Please tell us about Ivory Bliss Photography.
Ivory Bliss photography is a full service wedding photography business. It’s there from beginning tooooo beginning. Lol Proposal, engagements, bridals, boudoir, and weddings. Everything is covered and we take pride in the fact that we can be there every step of your journey and capture consistent and memorable images that you’re proud of. What’s great is when we are there for every step we end up truly loving our couples and are so excited to see their life journey unfold.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is when we would go fishing as a family. My dad is in the Air Force and was gone for weeks at a time but when he got home we would all go out and fish and spend time together. It’s still our favorite thing to do together and it’s made me into the outdoors girl I am today. I love taking my daughter and husband on hikes, fishing, and exploring the wild. It’s also not so secret that that’s how I find my awesome locations for shooting. My husband and daughter know me to well to fall for “it’s just a fishing trip guys”.
