Thanks for sharing your story with us Eripitan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my blog, WearFaithEssence roughly 1.5 years ago. I had always loved fashion and encouraging my friends, but I didn’t understand that it could become a business. My friends and family would always tell me that I could be a fashion designer or a stylist, but I never believed in myself. It was not until late of 2016 that I decided to take a leap of faith and start my blog. I can honestly say that it was incredibly challenging and frustrating at the beginning. I was spending countless hours researching how to start a blog, select a name, and so much more. I am proud to say that 1.5 years later I have my blog. It is not exactly where I want it to be, but it is far greater than I have ever expected it to be. I learned so much about myself through the process and I can say that I have grown, as an adult, with my business. Granted, I’m not as big as the other bloggers out there, but we all have to start somewhere.
Has it been a smooth road?
Blogging has not been smooth at all. It has been challenging, financially, mentally, and physically! When I first started, I thought that the collaborations would roll right in, but it took me 6 months to book my first collab. It was then that I realized that I had to keep people interested, so I had to buy more products, in wishing that a company or brand would notice. That quickly became exasperating, to the point that I wanted to quit. I would tell myself that I would never be able to keep up with other bloggers out there and that I needed to take up a new hobby. Mentally, social media is a game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and a lot of times you need to hit the reset button. Being a blogger has its benefits, but the constant comparison and occasional ridicule can be tiring. It can take a toll on how you view yourself and how you come off to others. I am glad to say that now, I don’t struggle too often. I may stumble with frustration along the way, but I don’t ever see myself giving up. I’ve learned to take everyday slowly and with God all things are possible and manageable.

WearFaithEssence is a fashion, faith, and motivational blog encouraging individuals of all ages to embrace their personality or “quirks”, one outfit a time. I specialize in making sure that what we see on the outside, such as our clothing, matches our insides. It’s enjoyable to dress well, but if our mental health or emotional intelligence is off, then we have some problems to solve. I strive to have my readers and Instagram followers know that they are capable of instilling change into their own lives, they just need to take the first step. WearFaithEssence isn’t your typical fashion blog. I don’t showcase a new outfit everyday and I don’t live an extravagant lifestyle. My blog is truly a representation of my style, thoughts, and personality. I would say that I’m known for my raw candor, late-night funny stories, and inspiring captions. When I created my blog, I did not see it as a business, but more so, of wanting to help people. I wanted to share an outfit and make people laugh at the same time. I wanted to let them see a glimpse of my world. So, that’s what I do. I help people. I inspire them. I encourage them. I help them overcome the mountains that they have been attempting to climb for years. I try to be their light at the end of the tunnel. I am most proud that I have helped SO many people. When I first started, I assumed that millennials would reap the most benefits, since I am one. I am so blessed and humbled to know I have had individuals 40 years of age and older say that I have helped them.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
As much as I love Dallas, it is a really competitive city and with that being said, I would still encourage anyone to try their business here. There are a lot of entrepreneurs around town and they can all provide individuals with the right tools. Yes, some aspects of the city are saturated with bloggers, vloggers, and more business owners, but that doesn’t mean that someone shouldn’t try. I would start in Dallas and see where it takes you.
