Today we’d like to introduce you to Landace Ortiz.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
10 years ago 5 of my cousins (all female) and I got married within the same year. It was a really busy year for our family! Needless to say, there was a lot of wedding planning and wedding discussion at any event we were at together for a year or two. It was at that point where I realized how much I loved weddings and loved the planning and preparing everything behind the scenes the day of the wedding. Bringing a vision to reality is challenging and I love a good challenge and adrenaline that comes along with it. For about 8 years I worked in corporate events while also trying to build a wedding business on the side. After having my second daughter, my husband encouraged me to leave my corporate job and really focus on growing my own business. That way I could have the flexibility to raise our daughters and manage a growing business. Fast forward to 2018 and we have a very successful Wedding Planning and Wedding Floral Business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Within the entire 10 years, definitely not. Only because for majority of that time I was holding down a 40+ hour a week job, being a mom and running my own business. However, it taught me to be hard working, determined and how to manage a crazy hectic schedule.
Designed 2 Perfection – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We offer full service wedding planning, month of coordination and two years ago we added floral design to our business. We are known for going above and beyond for our clients. You can usually find us bussing tables, refilling drinks, taking out the trash, we really don’t like to sit still! Floral has probably become one of my favorite parts of the business. I love watching boxes of stemmed flowers come together into beautiful bouquets and arrangements.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Honestly, just being able to wake up every day and do what I love makes me proud. I never wake up and think, I don’t want to work today, actually, it’s usually the opposite, and I want to work all the time!
