Meet Bobbi Schwartz of Be Iconic Style in Uptown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobbi Schwartz.

Bobbi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been in the fashion industry a number of years and have held many, many positions in the industry. I’ve worked for some of the world’s top fashion houses including Ralph Lauren, Neiman Marcus, and Forty Five Ten to name a few, and I’ve been out on my own as a personal stylist for over 15 years. I have a global clientele who are in the top 1 percent of the 1 percent of the economic strata. I’ve dressed virtually thousands of women beautifully over the years, and until I launched Be Iconic Style I maintained an office at Highland Park Village.

The seed of inspiration for Be Iconic Style began when I was working for the retailers. I always had huge followings, regardless of the setting/store. At the time I was under the impression that my customers would follow me from one store to another, but in the end, when I called them to let them know that I’d moved on they’d say, “Oh my gosh, I have worked with so-and-so for 30 years…” so, you know—what are you going to do? You do the only thing you can, and you start again. And I did…always with tremendous success. I had always thought it was because I had good taste, was known for my impeccable customer service, and my clients were getting compliments, and while those things were true, I just thought I was selling clothes and working with beautiful product every day. A few years in I really started to feel a need to “give back,” so I began mentoring in the schools. It felt like the right thing to do at the time given that I was a teacher early on in my career—I just wanted to give back.

Fast-forward to the start of my personal styling business. Once I began working one-on-one with my very own clients (in a less corporate and more intimate setting), it didn’t take long to come to the realization that a woman’s self-esteem and self-confidence are very closely tied to how she feels about her physical appearance—and that impacts every aspect of her life.

That being said, I also came to realize that one of the primary reasons my customers have always been so loyal wasn’t simply because of my good taste, phenomenal service and the compliments they were getting, but also because what I did for them was actually changing their how they viewed themselves, and consequently, changing their lives. It wasn’t until I began working as a personal stylist and developing a deeper and more intimate relationship with my clients that I discovered I was doing a whole lot more than just selling them clothes. THAT was my “a-ha” moment and the genesis of Be Iconic Style.

My epiphany led me to decide that I wanted to create a personal styling service available to all women. I truly believe that every woman deserves the benefits of a personal stylist, but let’s face it—few women have the budget for one. With that in mind, Be Iconic Style was born.

Has it been a smooth road?
Few new business models are easy breezy, and Be Iconic Style has had its share of struggles along the way. Like all businesses that want to be (and stay) relevant, we will always be a work in progress. One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced is that even though we are primarily a styling site, we are all about the “whole woman” so we’ve included sections for inspiration, fitness and well-being, beauty, and business—which means that we’ve had to explain the concept behind where we’ve gone with the site and that’s not always been clear to people. As the site and membership has grown, we’ve also had to deal with numerous IT challenges that have presented themselves as newer functionalities were added to the site along the way. We have made excellent progress however and are now in great shape. Yay, and thank heavens!

One aspect of the business that has always gone very well for us however, is our branding and the visual representation of Be Iconic Style. In that regard we’ve always made a great impression and have been able to generate a tremendous interest in what it is we’re looking to achieve. That has been helpful in maintaining a positive outlook when dealing with some fairly significant IT issues.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Be Iconic Style – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a personal stylist who has had tremendous success in dressing my clients. That is the foundation of what we do at Be Iconic Style—personal styling. I have a hugely successful track record, which is what differentiates me from every other styling site out there. In fact, that is a game-changer for the people who use my services…both personal clients and the members of Be Iconic Style. Anyone can claim to be a stylist, and we’ve all seen the throngs of “influencers” in social media who are paid to wear certain labels—but very few people have the actual experience with huge success and connections that I do—and that makes all the difference.

It should also be noted that Be Iconic Style is a personal styling site that is all about the empowerment of women. This is of paramount importance to us. We reach women through style because that is such a core issue for so many, but we are all about empowering women through their own personal evolution and growth. It’s about helping women to gain confidence, not just through developing their style and showing them how to dress, but also in their whole being.

Women have so much to offer the world and this site is dedicated to helping each and every one become her very best self. This is also the element of the business of which I’m the most proud…and it’s been mirrored in the feedback we’ve heard from our customers over time. We’ve been told how drastically their lives have been changed as Be Iconic Style has given them the tools (and consequently the courage) to move forward in their personal and professional lives. I have personally witnessed massive change to some of our members’ entire lives, and that has not only been tremendously gratifying, but also proof that we’re doing something valuable!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love everything about this city. I consciously made an intention to move here many years ago because of the energy and my opinion of that has never changed. I love the energy, the people, and the opportunity. Dallas is ranked as being one of the top most productive cities in the country and I just think this is a glorious place to live, I love where I live and I just love everything about Dallas in terms of business and personal. Okay, so if you want one thing I don’t really care for let’s talk about Texas summers, but that’s about it.
