Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni Smith.
Toni, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’m a girly girl. I love things that are pretty, glittery, and inspirational. My journey started in 2014, after I lost 2 clothing boutiques that I owned. My daughter became really sick during the pregnancy of her son which caused me to be away from the store a lot of the time. Exhausting all my funds, I hit rock bottom financially, mentally, and emotionally. One day I pulled over to a gas station and literally sat at the pump for 3 hours crying asking God to help me, he finally said go! I cleaned my face, and drove back home. Memorial Day 2014, I made a cupcake bouquet I saw on Pinterest and posted it to social media, someone spotted it and decided to place an order, and that is how Frankly Frosted was established.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create Bespoke Cakes & Sweet Designs. I stumbled upon my art in 2014 after losing a clothing boutique that I owned. Feeling regretful for things that had taken place, I cried out to The Lord for Hell, and he truly showed me the way.
My message to others would be: Strive for Excellence not for others but for yourself. Sometimes the road that we travel have a few potholes, some we can avoid and some we must fall into, the ones that we fall into, are made to shape and sharpen us. Learn to say Thank you with a sincere heart, learn that you have a gift and purpose that will lighten up someone’s heart, learn to be still and wait on His timing. Your purpose can open the doors for those who may not believe in themselves.
A lot of my artwork consist of Affirmations, simply because at one point in time, I didn’t love or believe in myself, and when others began to speak positive into my life, I began to believe those things as well. Which led me to speak life to others but on Sugar.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
A lot of artist face challenges of being pushed to the back, not receiving credit or being fully compensated for the time and effort their putting into their craft.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My work is displayed on my website, Facebook, IG, or any other social media outlet.
