Meet Christian Hafner of Boss Beauty Makeup Academy in Richardson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Hafner.

Christian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in a small town in West Texas. Clyde was a conservative little town with a population of about 3000 people. Even though I love my small. I always knew I was made for something bigger – a bigger town and a bigger dream.  I have always been very into all things creative. I love dancing, singing, art, beauty, and fashion.  I was just waiting for my moment to jump into this world.

In the fall of 2017 I was scrolling through the search page on social media and saw that Boss Beauty Makeup Academy was having open casting calls. I did some research and learned that Boss Beauty Makeup Academy was a new makeup school lead by an amazing team of reality stars and entrepreneurs and was opening in Dallas. I thought “What’s the worst that could happen if I drive 3 hours to Dallas and interview for this job? The worst they could say is no.”  So, I made the trip and interviewed for their first open position. Thankfully they didn’t say no. Actually, they loved me. I let them know if they hired me I would move from my small town to Dallas on the spot. I was fully committed and ready to take the leap to create the life I always wanted. The next week they followed up and told me that they would like for me to start the following Monday. And even though I had no place to live and no idea how I was going to make it work, I said “yes ma’am, I’ll see you there!”  Leaving my parents and 7 siblings, who I love dearly and am very close with, to move away to this big city was a scary decision. But I knew this was the opportunity I had been waiting for. By the grace of God I was able to find a place to live and started work right on time.

This hard decision has turned out to be so beneficial. I am so blessed by the people I have met and the relationships I have created!  In addition to that, I have grown so much in my career. I am challenging myself artistically and am creating so many amazing looks. I am learning great techniques, extensive product knowledge, and a new love of being a creator is continually evolving. I feel such joy when I perfect my eyeliner, or perfectly blend colors together. It is like creating a work of art on a blank canvas and every day I get to do something new and different. One of the greatest joys of being a certified professional makeup artist is being able to accentuate the beauty in other women. Seeing a woman look in the mirror and see their beauty in a new way is a beautiful thing to behold. Bringing confidence and beauty and making them smile at their reflection is the best reward. I believe there will never be quite a better feeling. I love to find and reveal beauty in all things. It was what I was created for.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Since I’ve always known that I was born to live in a big city I was pretty motivated to come out here to the Dallas area, although I knew the transition was going to be hard. Moving away from my family and all my friends was difficult but thankfully my team here has welcomed me with open arms and has made Dallas my new home!

At Boss Beauty Makeup Academy, we certify men and women around the Dallas area or even in other surrounding counties, cities, or states that have the desire to turn their passion into their paycheck by becoming Certified Professional Makeup Artists! I contribute to the business by being an Admissions Counselor, meaning that I break down all the courses we have to offer, how the program works, all of the amazing benefits etc. to future students! In addition to being an Admissions Counselor, I will always first be a creator. Around the office I am most known for my colorful, crazy looks while participating for our weekly look challenges I do with my coworkers! With Dallas being 6 to 10 years behind in the beauty industry comparing to California, I am so proud to be a part of a team of trendsetters who are wanting to make a difference and offer this amazing program to people around this area. As opposed to a full-blown cosmetology school, we just specialize in a very in-depth program that just revolves around everything makeup! Not only will you take away how to improve your makeup application skills, you will learn how to manage a starting business, break the ice and talk to clients, pushing yourself and seeing how creative you can be, and so many other amazing skills people wouldn’t think you could learn at a makeup academy!

What were you like growing up?
I have always been very creative. I have participated in singing competition, dance competitions, been in multiple theater productions, created and sold my own art. I love expressing myself in so many different ways, and now that has brought me to make up as well! I have always been very outgoing and vibrant in expressing myself. Always wanting to make people laugh and feel good. I love to love; people, things, experiences, places! Having a huge appreciation for life and people brings me such joy and I believe it is one of my best qualities!
