Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan White.
Ryan, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
When I was a senior in high school in 2010, I started playing around with photography as just something to do. With years of practice I created my own brand name, MGAPXL Photography. I shortly started gaining attention from everyone and I became booked with shoots rapidly. In the beginning my parents really didn’t support anything I was doing creatively. It took a lot of hard work to gain their attention. The success of my photography has led me to videography, fashion shows, concerts, web design and my own sunglasses line. I never knew almost ten years later this would be my story.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am an artist of many talents. I like to call myself a computer geek mogul. I am a photographer, videographer, eyewear brand owner, web designer, and novice graphic design artist. I have always been glued to anything creative that involves the computer. With photography you have to edit photos. With videography you have to edit the videos. While having previous knowledge with web design, I was able to create my own eyewear brand online. Once my eyewear brand was created, I was able to produce my own media for all social media platforms.
The message behind putting my hand in multiple areas is to inspire everyone to not just stop with learning one creative art. Take a chance and learn something new once you master the previous creative art.
Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
Personally the conditions for artist are great right now. Social media has allowed anyone and everyone to create their own platform in any way. I will say that it takes skill and hard work to push yourself though in today’s world. With so much new talent being found every day, you have to make sure all your content is solid and fresh. You don’t want anyone to view your brand as a copy of someone else.
The main thing our city can do to encourage others is to simply ask for help. Asking for help is how I became stable with my craft. A lot of people will often try to study someone and copy what they see but don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors, I also encourage everyone to stay updated on current events. When you know what’s going on around you, you just naturally learn how to survive better.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
The main place everyone can see anything of mine is on Instagram. That is my main platform. My Instagram is @ryanwhitec. www.ryanwhitec.com is open to everyone to book me for any service needed.
