Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Jones.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I own Snapshots of a Memory by Danielle, I started my company 10 years ago. I have always worked retail my whole adult life to provide for my kids; which I have 3 boys and a girl.
Having a daughter meant the world to me after my 3 little boys, so like most moms, I entered her into beauty pageants, etc., Well, she did so well she always won photogenic and other large titles. The cost of pageants got so expensive, I couldn’t hire a professional photographer so I started doing them myself. And people took notice, I started to book side jobs.
After a couple of years, I felt my side jobs were taking over my life, and I knew it was time to make the decision to quit my full-time job at Walgreen’s as a Manager. Everyone thought I was crazy, even my husband, but I knew in my heart it was my destiny. So I put in my 2 weeks’ notice and never looked back. I knew I had 2 options; to be successful or wind up on welfare, so success is what I have submerged in.
I poured every ounce of time and energy, I had to learn all I could to be better than I was the day before. I never quit, I just kept going, I built a brand, a clientele that today I am so proud of. I had a few bumps along the way but I always looked on and upward.
The small town of Mineral Wells is where I am based out of, which is 60 miles west of Dallas. I have about 90% of my clients come from the Ft. Worth Dallas and surrounding areas. I feel so blessed that clients drive to have me capture their life milestones.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth road? No not at all. I struggled a lot with finding my true vibe, my brand, I would change my logo and design several times before finally finding the perfect one.
I also looked at every one else’s work and compared it to mine and always tried to follow the current trend, then I quit all that and did what I loved in every session and that became my vibe.
My work and I learned then I loved my style and what I had to offer my clients. But I know that they are learning curves to make me who I am today,
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am known for my newborn work, which is featured in 2 local hospitals, and 1 local OBGYN facility. I am also known for the amazing sets I build for children for mini sessions.
I am most proud of my company for the customer service I have built, and the respect and loyalty it has offered so many clients.
I believe having the experience of pulling up to a full-service studio and providing clients with beautiful high-end portraits and great customer service and a whimsical way of photographing is what sets me apart from others.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment is when I ordered a backdrop from a backdrop company, and I made it into a set and photographed my Easter sessions. I then posted one of my final images to the company Facebook page, and the owner immediately contacted me raving on my work.
I then developed a relationship with this company and my work is featured in their line. I photograph and work with them and their backdrops, so that made me recognized in the photography world. I started to attend their trade shows and help them and promote their backdrops with my work.
