Today we’d like to introduce you to David Soames, Dustin Taylor, and Matt Sitser.
Despite growing up more than 4,500 miles apart, Creative Directors David Soames and Dustin Taylor, along with Account Director Matt Sitser, found themselves working on a project for the City of Dallas together, back in 2014, at Moroch Partners. It was right then when they realized they were all ad geeks. For the trio, advertising wasn’t a job; it was lifestyle. A few years (and numerous national and international awards) later, the three knew it was time to strike out on their own. A shared passion for creative-driven advertising and storytelling fueled the jump; The Shop officially opened its doors on January 1st of 2017, launching with their first retainer client, Tiff’s Treats – the original, warm cookie delivery service.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
The Shop is a creative-driven advertising boutique, currently based in Dallas, Texas. Our mission is simple: help turn businesses into brands that people want to engage with and talk about. We do this by creating compelling, consumer-facing ads that tell insightful brand stories for all of our partners. Our work is authentic and genuine and covers everything from print and outdoor to TV and online video to digital and social content (and much more). When you work with The Shop, you’re getting big agency talent, without the big agency headaches. There’s neither jargon nor B-teams – just relentless passion and hustle.
Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
Marketing and advertising play a huge role in shaping our society — the way we see, think, understand, and act. The average American is inundated with ads every day, and the advertising we’re constantly consuming paints a picture of society, thus shaping how we view ourselves and what many aspire to. Given all this, it’s no wonder advertising is generally seen as a negative influence. But it doesn’t have to be. Whether it makes us laugh, smile, or simply feel good in a time of need, advertising can do a lot of positive things for the world.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
