Meet Patrina Dixon, Certified Finance Coach of P. Dixon Consulting and It’$ My Money

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrina Dixon.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Patrina. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I started years ago when I was a single parent, living paycheck to paycheck trying to make ends meet. Then one day I said to myself, “there has to be a better way.” I wanted to change how I was handling my financial affairs, so I went on a quest to learn more about money, how to work it well. I followed, watched, studied the experts to see what they did, how they did it and advice they shared.

Once I got to a good place with my finances, and I guess it was apparent as different people would randomly ask me money questions and I would share tips or things I had done and the lesson I learned along my financial journey. I often volunteered to offer my services in my community and for Junior Achievement trying to help people learn more about money management.

Then it happened, I started my own business and wrote my 1st book, which is a finance guide. The book’s title It’$ My Money became a brand and helped the business grow month, by month, adding more services as I went on. I love that people refer to me as ‘The Money Lady.”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles I had along the way was adequate funding for my business. Trying to not get loans I funded it from my personal savings.

Another struggle was getting people for the services that I knew they needed, but they had not yet come to realize the need to invest in themselves so that can gain the knowledge from an expert on something they were struggling with. I also struggled with how much should be spent on marketing.

I had to take a step back and look at how much money I spent in this area and assessed the return on each investment, and this allowed me to make more thoughtful decision on which events I attended or participated as a vendor.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about P. Dixon Consulting and It’$ My Money – what should we know?
My business, P. Dixon Consulting, LLC is a financial coaching firm. We help people learn the importance of saving and budgeting and provide strategies via regular coaching session to get them to a better financial position. I am also an International Speaker, Podcaster and Award-Winning Author of a journal series called It”$ My Money. I have become known as the It”$ My Money lady. I facilitate a financial workshop for teens and adults.

I am most proud that my company is structured to help people be their best. When people are free from financial stresses, they are happier with themselves. I believe having teens as one of the demographics I focus unset me apart from some. When people ask me about my “competitors,” I usually respond with we are all colleagues in the same business.

We have all identified an area that is plaguing our country, and the world for that matter and we are doing our part to change that narrative. The more people know about money and how it can be used more effectively and ways to make it work, hopefully, the better they will be with it. The most recent addition to the business is the financial podcast called The Money Exchange. The Money Exchange is available on iTunes and SoundCloud.

The mission of my company and services it to provide helpful, practical financial information, strategies and resources with people so that they can better manage their money and the value of generational wealth.
