Today we’d like to introduce you to Trenice Martin
Hi Trenice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started doing graphics about seventeen years ago in my house. At that time, I had a partner I was doing business with who taught me a large chunk of everything I know now. I just recently parted ways and started my own business in the same field, so I’m pretty excited about this new venture.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road…….absolutely not! (LOL)
Starting from the bottom with anything is hard. There will always be lots of struggles along the way, but it does get easier, which is what I’m grateful for. I think my challenge was balancing every single thing without a business partner to kinda delegate the job to. Now that I have that in the bag, it’s smooth sailing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in custom t-shirts for occasions such as baby showers, graduations, birthdays and business endeavors, but mostly I design shirts for funerals and/or memorials. I love to design and seeing a satisfied customer is always a great feeling. What sets me apart from others, in my opinion, is my organization and attention to detail. It’s important to be organized, especially in this business because it can be very fast paced. You’re also dealing with many customers and they are all getting similar products. With that being said, creating that many designs in a week or even a day, can get crazy if you don’t have some type of organization.
What am I most proud of? I’m proud of a lot of things – especially in the last few months of my life. I think what makes me most proud is the ability to keep going in any situation, though. I’m a mother of five, so pushing when you don’t feel like you can is a necessity. I keep grinding for them and seeing them proud of me is motivation to continue the journey.
What are your plans for the future?
Someone told me, “Don’t think too far in the future…take care of now.” I’m trying to follow that doctrine because it can be a bit stressful thinking so far ahead.
What I can say is that I’m looking forward to all the flowers blooming from the seeds that I’ve sown. There’s great things ahead and I’m excited for everyone to see it.
