Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelin Schebler
Hi Katelin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career in skincare and makeup in 2005 and earned my esthetician license in 2007 in Kansas (where i grew up). After over a decade of working in the spa industry learning from some of the top spas on the East and West coasts and having worked with Coastal and European mentors, I wanted to create my own custom and unique brands centered around my clients’ wellness and skin goals. In 2018, I launched KS Esthetics Professional Skincare and her luxury, award-winning spa, Culture A Day Spa both founded in Frisco Texas. I have been able to apply my knowledge to CULTURE A DAY SPA and my professional skin care line KS ESETHETICS where the two brands set the bar for client experience and results. I welcome everyone to visit CULTURE A DAY SPA, as it is highly likely you will see me, whether at the front desk or in the treatment room as a licensed Esthetician.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My husband Jon and I had the dream for Culture A Day Spa and then went down a very long and unpredictable road of making this dream a reality. Even before opening, we learned there are and will be challenges along the way, but along with those challenges come many opportunities. As an example, it took one and a half years to find the perfect location. A significant obstacle we faced was the commercial real estate market; it is very competitive in North Texas. Most of the locations we explored were looking for franchise businesses or a business that had been around along time. This made it challenging for a new business with a fresh approach like ours. That actually was a second obstacle we faced – our “Day Spa” concept. A luxury day spa, focused on exclusive treatments, with 5-star customer service was a concept that many developers and building owners weren’t as familiar with; this made it challenging for them to visualize our concept – we were constantly being compared to nail or hair salons as many of those business carry “day spa” in their name. However, we really like the location we are in today, it was worth the wait!
6 years later we are excited to be expanding our spa and adding on an additional 1,400 square feet so we are enjoying the Contruction process again with the challenges and delays that it can bring. Details on the new space:
This fall/winter 2024 Culture A Day Spa will be expanding to include more treatment rooms, larger women’s locker room, 2 saunas, white himalayan salt louge and an igloo room with snow feature.
The women’s locker room is expanding and adding in an infrared sauna. In addition, there will be a coed infrared sauna next to the igloo room.
Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared saunas don’t heat the air around you. Instead, infrared lamps, which use electromagnetic radiation, warm your body directly. The benefits of using an infrared sauna are: better sleep, relaxation, improved circulation, relief from sore muscles
The coed igloo room consists of a small, enclosed space designed for maximum health benefits but unlike the infrared sauna the igloo lounge is chilled to a freezing temperature and features actual snow.
The igloo lounge can be used in tandem with the infrared sauna as part of a thermal experience. Spend 10 minutes in the sauna before using the igloo room to bring down your body temperature. This combination of hot and cold helps to boost your blood circulation, increasing overall wellness.
A new rejuvenating Himalayan salt lounge will feature rare white Himalayan salt. The salt lounge will help promote relaxation and stress Reduction. Negative ions improve disposition and promote relaxation. The white salt contains over 84 trace minerals.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Most proud of our “Culture” bring a truly unique spa experience to North Texas. We named the business Culture because we believe in changing the “culture” of the industry. First, the client experience, offering exclusive treatments performed by the top professionals in the industry all customized to the client’s needs. Second, the employee experience, offering an uplifting and supportive environment with like-minded professionals.
I am so proud of our team as they are seasoned professionals with an average of 16 years of spa experience. The spa industry is their career and passion and they are very good at what they do. Infact, I think our team is the best at what we do. I love to constantly create and develop new treatments that no one else has or can copy. Ex: our Synergy Featuring Bamboo Massage and Polynesian Pearl lift facial. I spend a lot of time on all the small details of the spa, products, services, protocols, etc.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very shy as a kid but I loved being outside and with animals. I grew up in the country and was an avid Equestrian. I rode almost every day and loved everything horses! In addition, i am naturally completive and I played club volley ball all through middle school and into high school starting on the Varsity team my freshman year. I also was the captain of the dance team my junior and senior year in high school which was a huge passion of mine during those 4 years.
