Hi Jodi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Founded by British expat Jodi Shays, Queen Bee Salon & Spa emerged from the heart of her English garden in Los Angeles, California. What started as a humble venture in a converted garage blossomed into a sanctuary of beauty and self-care that reigns supreme with locations in Los Angeles, Dallas and Seattle.

Our Founder’s Journey: Jodi Shays, a dedicated esthetician and skincare enthusiast, honed her craft as a facialist, brow artist, and waxologist just off the renowned Rodeo Drive in the beauty capital of the world – Beverly Hills, California. Her passion for beauty and commitment to delivering top-notch esthetic services laid the foundation for Queen Bee Salon & Spa.

From Garden to Glamour: The story of Queen Bee began in that converted garage, where Jodi’s vision took root and flourished. Her British charm, coupled with the glamour of Beverly Hills, infused a unique blend of sophistication and warmth into every aspect of the salon. Today, Queen Bee is not just a spa; it’s a testament to the dedication of one woman’s journey in the beauty industry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting Small in a Competitive Market: Beginning in a converted garage in Los Angeles, a city saturated with beauty services, Jodi had to compete with established names and high-end salons. Building a reputation in such a competitive environment requires immense dedication, resilience, and a commitment to exceptional service.

Balancing British Charm and Beverly Hills Glamour: As a British expat, Jodi brought a unique cultural perspective to the beauty industry, which likely presented both opportunities and obstacles. Integrating her British charm with the glamorous expectations of Beverly Hills would have required careful navigation of customer expectations.

Scaling Operations: Expanding from one location to multiple cities like Dallas and Seattle brings logistical, operational, and branding challenges. Maintaining consistency in service quality across locations and ensuring each Queen Bee reflects the same values and aesthetic can be difficult, especially when each market has its own preferences and competition.

Building a Brand: Establishing Queen Bee Salon & Spa as more than just a business but a sanctuary for beauty and self-care meant developing a strong brand identity. This involves overcoming the hurdles of brand recognition, customer loyalty, and differentiating the business in an oversaturated market.

Staying True to the Vision: As Queen Bee Salon & Spa grew, Jodi likely faced the challenge of staying true to her original vision while adapting to the ever-changing beauty industry. This includes innovating with new services, products, and trends while keeping the core values of the business intact.

Despite these challenges, Jodi Shays’ journey reflects resilience, adaptability, and a clear vision that has allowed Queen Bee Salon & Spa to thrive across multiple locations.

As a renowned esthetician to celebrities and clients from all walks of life, I’ve spent over 20 years perfecting the art of waxing, brows, and facials. But my passion for skincare didn’t stop there—it led me to create QB Skincare, a line that represents the ultimate balance of nature and nurture. After decades of hands-on experience, I can confidently say that healthy, radiant skin requires both.

Growing up in the English countryside and now a Master Gardener, I’ve always understood the power of nature. Just as a garden flourishes when cared for with natural ingredients and attention, so too does our skin. Over the years, I’ve shared this philosophy with my clients, creating products and services rooted in these principles.

My mission is simple: to deliver authentic skincare solutions with real results. I designed QB Skincare from the ground up, guided by a commitment to sustainability and quality. Every ingredient is sustainably sourced whenever possible, the packaging is fully recyclable, and even the plastic vessels are biodegradable. The secret? Careful selection, sourcing, and rigorous testing of each ingredient to ensure they meet the highest standards.

Some of my best ideas have emerged from working directly with my loyal clients and talented skincare team, refining products through hard work and dedication.

It isn’t about what you have or put in the bank. It is about what you feel in your soul.
