Today we’d like to introduce you to Kesha Austin
Hi Kesha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
l am originally from North Carolina. Growing up, my family and I didn’t have much money. As a result, most of my clothing came from secondhand sources. Being plus size throughout my life, coupled with our limited budget, meant I often struggled to find fashionable options. While in school, I would watch my peers in their name-brand outfits, imagining how I would style similar looks if I had the same opportunities to express myself through fashion. Fast forward to 2019: after several years of marriage & a move to Texas, I began to embrace my identity as a plus-size woman who loves both fashion and my faith in Christ. It became essential for me to dress stylishly yet with dignity. At work, I frequently received compliments about my outfits, with many asking where I shopped. I would proudly respond, “Thrift store.” The repeated interest sparked the thought, “I have something special here.”
After refining my vision, I launched Bomb Plus Vintage in 2019. However, I set the business aside for a year (in 2020) due to fear and uncertainty. During that time, I struggled with anxiety as an active drinker and faced a cancer diagnosis, all while Covid was at its peak. In 2021, I focused on recovery and regaining my strength after overcoming cancer. I then embarked on a Christ-led fast that motivated me to revive my business in 2022. Since then, Bomb Plus Vintage has been thriving and flourishing! Additionally, in 2023, the Lord freed me from alcohol, further deepening my commitment to fulfilling His purpose for my life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the main challenges I encountered was maintaining focus. While I consistently showed up and remained dedicated, I sometimes struggled to stay centered. Occasionally, I would find myself distracted, straying away from the calling on my life related to my business and its genuine purpose. With Bomb Plus Vintage, my mission is to empower plus-size women to look fabulous while also being whole in Christ. However, distractions would occasionally lead me to believe that my goals or vision aligned with those of others in similar businesses. I quickly realized the need to refocus and realign myself with Gods will for Me & Bomb Plus Vintage. Another significant hurdle that contributed to my lack of focus was alcoholism. While drinking is prevalent in today’s society, for me, it brought about numerous detrimental realities. My mind often worked against me, rather than fulfilling its genuine purpose of supporting me. After the Lord delivered me from alcoholism and I recommitted to my true purpose for my business and what a genuinely successful business looks like in Christ, focus became much more attainable.

Bomb Plus Vintage is a vibrant and colorful brand specializing in plus-size vintage clothing. When you shop with us, you won’t just find unique, one-of-a-kind plus-size clothing, shoes, and accessories; you’ll also receive encouragement, wisdom, and personal stories of challenges I’ve overcome, along with creative fashion ideas featuring vintage pieces. One of my proudest achievements is being a consistent and reliable source for plus-size vintage items over the years. I cherish the fact that many plus-size clients gain the confidence to wear styles they wouldn’t typically choose once they see me embracing risks and expressing myself through fashion. Helping women gain a fresh perspective and encouraging them to embrace their individuality in fashion is truly a remarkable triumph.

I love everything about Dallas, its home now & there is truly NO place like home. I love how the city has afforded me the opportunity to blossom. The ONLY thing I can say I don’t like about Dallas, is THE ROADS!!! My car said Ouch! lol
