Hi Timika, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Looking back, I have always had a passion to help others and real estate was the vehicle I was planning to use to do so. In 2008, I had plans to start my professional real estate career; however, I allowed everything in my life to get in the way of those plans. I continued to pray about my purpose in life and the desire to help others through real estate kept coming to the surface of my mind. Fast forward, 10 years later, in 2018 I finally gave into my gift to help others and earned my Texas Real Estate license. Besides a minor setback, I hit the ground running and have enjoyed my journey so far.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In the beginning, it was not a smooth road, I started with a small real estate brokerage and the owner, my real estate mentor, was probably in the glory days of her real estate career and I was just getting started. I was so eager and excited to learn and get to work and she was, in my opinion, figuring out her exit strategy. So, our energy levels did not match and it was a long and disappointing 6 months. I am so glad I had a backup plan just in case it did not work out at the small brokerage. I decided to join a larger brokerage (JPAR® – Real Estate) and I have been thriving ever since. The excitement and positive energy was what I needed to give my real estate career, LIFE!

DBA Joy Real Estate Group is here to serve others in the real estate space. As a REALTOR® in the Dallas, TX real estate market, I am passionate about my ability to server others. It warms my heart to assistance families on their journey to buy and/or sell a home. What sets me apart from others, I believe in building relationships and not just getting the sell. I am most proud of the quality of work I produce; otherwise, I will not put my mother’s name (JOY) on it. I would like readers to know, I am available and happy to help secure those keys!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I will watch almost any real estate show on television today. I also love practicing YOGA and listening to the Calm app; they both help me to find my inner peace and I think it helps me stay calm during real estate negotiations.
