Conversations with the Inspiring Ciara Myers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Myers.

Ciara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always loved documenting. I was an avid writer in school, and wanted to be a journalist when I “grew up” but I was terrible at reporting. My professor often asked me to use fewer words, less creative style of writing, less intellectualizing, you get it…

So, I switched my focus in college to marketing and new media – where I could be as creative and fun as the client allowed. After a few years working professionally (both inside of a corporate setting and running my own social media marketing business), I fell in love with the craft and wanted to use my newfound skills to impact people for the better.

This blog has provided a place for me to help thousands of women each day and I’m incredibly grateful that people still visit my blog and read (in a world saturated with gif and bitmoji, haha).

VeiledFree is a little corner of the Internet where I write about positive living.

Readers will find that my blog posts range from deep topics to frivolous ones. I like to keep things interesting, authentic, helpful and fun!

For instance, they can find life changing posts {hopefully} about mental, physical, spiritual, relational, and emotional health under the Mindfulness tab (with insight from my years of being married to a therapist).

If they need to be uplifted and inspired, they can search the site long enough to find my favorite nontoxic products, healthy recipes, book recommendations, clean beauty reviews, eco-friendly, fair trade, organic and natural lifestyle choices, faith-based goodies, creative fashion posts and sustainable brands changing the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve experienced scrutiny and backlash from others since starting this venture…. so, my biggest advice is to encourage one another. Never tear someone down in order to be successful. Be generous and kind to everyone in your life and in business. Not because you expect something in return.

Have pure motives and trust that God will guide your steps. He will open the right door and close the wrong door, but you have to have faith and relinquish control.

Being an entrepreneur is insane. It’s a lot of work – more than people realize. It can be lonely at times, exciting at times, and boring at times. You have to love what you’re doing and stay persistent. Learn more every day and never exploit someone to get what you want.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into VeiledFree story. Tell us more about the business.
VeiledFree is not defined by products that are sold. It’s defined by a feeling. I want my blog readers to leave inspired.

I want to bridge the gap between Christians who don’t care about the planet and environmentalists who don’t care about God. I believe that faith, sustainability, world change, and health can co-exist.

I’m proud that big brands like Petco, Target, Barbie, etc. have seen enough value in my blog to endorse posts, but I’m most proud of my community. They have stayed with me through years of growth and change.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
My parents taught me to work hard and dream big which I’ve carried throughout my lifetime.

I didn’t have a television for the first eleven years of my life, so I learned to create my own fun. I didn’t have many toys so I learned to be grateful.

I was an empathetic child who wholeheartedly loved people. I was a perfectionistic and achiever by nature. I’ve been through horrific experiences that have taught me to lean on God when I’m weak. My success is given to me by the grace of God and I can’t take credit for any of it.
