Conversations with the Inspiring Kimberly Loveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Loveland.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in a small town in Delight, Arkansas (just a tidbit… home of Glen Campbell) and was born into a talented family full of builders, interior designers, and seamstress. From the time, I could walk and talk, I always had a crayon in my hand. At five years of age, I was designing and sewing outfits for my dolls with the patient help of my dear sweet Mother who fostered my love of art and fashion.

Years later, I studied Fashion Merchandising and Design at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. I went on to live in LA where I was a trim and fabric buyer for a multi-million dollar company. After living and playing in LA a while, my husband and I moved back to his roots, the great state of Texas! In 2000, I started my own children’s wear business, called BeePlush Couture (fancy huh?) I have been interviewed several times on local TV stations, published in several apparel industry magazines as well as coming in 2nd place in Texas Next Top Designer Competition. After many years of designing children’s and men’s clothing, I decided to take a different direction that I LOVE equally as much… creating ART! I am a self-taught artist that loves to create stimulating paintings that intrigue the observer. I like to mix my own paint and add layers to get depth and texture, creating interest through different techniques and designs. I see art much like clothing, it is an extension and expression of one’s self.

I have the best boss and job in the world! I get to work with awesome, talented designers creating art specifically for their commercial and residential spaces. My life could not be more full or more joyful working at La Montage (Art to the Trade) gallery and showroom, where I get to be surrounded by inspiring beauty all day.

What should we know about your business? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the type of person that can make things happen, I just have that mind set of “I can figure this out”. I get a lot of my inspiration from many things… it may be a shape, fabric, nature ( newsflash, I love the ocean), textures (oh textures are fun)…. all things I love.

There is a saying “Created to Create”… yep, that is me. God made me this way and it is something so deep inside of me that it’s in the depths of my soul! It’s just something I have to do. More often than not I give my paintings a spiritual name, I want my art to be peaceful and inspiring.

I hope my art can evoke a feeling, an emotional connection. For some, it may be peace or hope, for others a reminder of things of yesterday. Whatever it may be, it has to speak to the buyer.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I define success as a lot of hard work and doing what you love to do. As the saying goes, If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life… I LOVE that because it is so true. I, by far, am at the happiest point in my career to date. I feel so blessed with a great place to work, and that I get to be in a creative environment. I have this amazing outlet to sell my work… and did I mention I have the #bestbossever!! I also have an amazing, supportive husband and 2 incredible children… one of which (my son) takes after his ole’ Mom. He is my helper when I have large pieces of art to do. Not only is he helping someone who needs it (me, lol!), he gets to see for himself how a buck is made and a business is run.
