Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Wardlaw & David Myers
Hi Adam Wardlaw & David Myers, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Gridiron Spice Company was founded in 2024 by two food (and football) enthusiasts, Adam Wardlaw and David Myers. The pair wanted to develop a product for people who share their passions for food and football. They consider the sport of football as part of the fabric of American Society.

We feel like food and football go hand in hand and we wanted to create a company that resonated with those communities.” -David Myers (Co-Founder)
Gridiron Spice Company currently sells online at GridironSpiceCo.com and has shipped orders across the country as well as internationally. The company also sets up vendor booths at various markets that take place in and around Kaufman County.
Gridiron Spice also facilitates fundraising ventures for football programs at every level. Gridiron Spice hopes to find their way on to store shelves in the near future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall we have been blown away by the support we received in our first quarter of operations. We knew we had a wonderful product but like any new business, were not expecting such a fast start. At each vendor event we continued to reach new customers and received great feedback on our seasoning blends. Online sales were also surprising, within the first few months we had shipped orders to nearly every state in the country as well as orders being shipped out to Canada and abroad.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Adam Wardlaw is originally from Williamston, South Carolina and moved to Forney, Texas in 2020 with his wife Lydia and their 3 kids Ellie, Wesley, and Bennett. Adam moved in order to continue his work as a high school football coach at Forney High School. Coach Wardlaw has been a teacher and Coach for nearly a decade. As you may know, Texas is considered “the mecca” of high school football which drew him to the state after coaching in South Carolina for four years. Prior to coaching, Adam attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina where he played football and was a student assistant during his time there. Prior to attending Presbyterian College, Adam attended Palmetto High School where he also played football. Upon moving to Texas, Coach Wardlaw was blown away by the investment that coaches in the state make with their football players. This inspired him to create a vlog to document his daily routines. The vlog has since grown on Tik Tok to over 200,000 followers and his videos have received millions of views over the last few years across various platforms.
David Myers was born and raised in California, where his love for football led him to Tabor College in Kansas on a football scholarship. After earning his BA in Business, he stayed an extra two years and coached while completing his MBA. Upon returning to California, David met his wife, Julia, and quickly launched his career as a Commercial Banker. In 2022, he relocated to Texas for a new professional opportunity and hasn’t looked back since. Outside of work, David is passionate about football, cooking, and cherishing time with his wife and their two kids, Haven and Dutton. He also enjoys attempting to play golf and spending quality time with friends.
The two met through church at Fellowship Forney and their friendship began. The two families would gather for meals and events and eventually they had the idea of forming Gridiron Spice Company.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Connecting with customers has been an important lesson we have learned so far in our venture. At vendor events we take pride in initiating conversation with people whether it be about their favorite dishes or their favorite teams. Once we have established a connection with a customer, we educate them on our blends and how we feel they can enhance the customers next meal. Taking the time to connect with customers has allowed us to grow our following and hopefully establishes a continuing relationship with them. We always encourage feedback from customers on how they are using our seasonings. On numerous occasions, feedback we have gotten from customers has even helped us get ideas for our next meal!
