Conversations with Alaina Curry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alaina Curry.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Five years ago, I had completely hit rock bottom. I was thousands in debt from student loans and credit cards and was tired of not having any freedom or control in my life. My best friend sent me Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover book which helped me to get the courage to tackle this debt. My goal was to be debt-free by 30. I worked extra jobs, moved in with family, said no to outings, and started side hustles just to pay it down and in October 2021, I officially became debt-free of $101k and hit my goal to do it by 30. Along the way, I was able to start a photography business and create a podcast all about money and wealth building called Vital Money.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth. I was met with so many challenges including two terrible car accidents and becoming unemployed due to the pandemic. Both of these situations discouraged me and tried to hold me back from seeing my goal through but I didn’t give up.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
By day, I am a publicist for the online petition site, Change.org and it’s been incredible to work on huge campaigns like the George Floyd hologram we did over Confederate statues. From 5-9, you can find me behind a camera, capturing high school and college seniors and pushing out episodes of my podcast, Vital Money.

I am proud to bring financial knowledge to my podcast and I try to present things in a fun and understandable way. I believe that is definitely what sets me apart. I’m always going to be extremely honest, loud (lol) and authentic.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I have so many! Some of the best podcasts and Youtubers that I listen to are around building wealth and more self-development. This includes Anthony O’Neal, To My Sisters, Dave Ramsey, Aja Dang, and many more.
