Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlene Ivette.
Hi Charlene, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve loved makeup for as long as I can remember. One of the first things I ever saved up for was a bright red lipstick—something about it felt powerful and exciting. I’d play with pretend makeup when I was little and by high school, I was experimenting with real products, colors and different looks any chance I got. My parents saw how passionate I was and supported me by enrolling me in a professional makeup course in 2010. That course became the foundation for my approach to makeup even now—rooted in technique, intention and creativity.
After getting certified, I juggled makeup work alongside college and a part-time job. On weekends, I’d take on weddings, special events and fashion shows. I was always doing whatever I could to stay connected to my passion while balancing a full schedule. Eventually, my career path took a turn away from beauty and I took a break from freelancing between 2019 and 2022. In 2022, I felt the call to return to makeup and pour my full energy into freelancing, and that’s when everything started to align.
These days, I work on everything from natural grooming to bold, high-impact glam. I pride myself on being adaptable and well-versed in various techniques, always striving to refine my artistry.
No matter the look, the best part of my job is making someone feel beautiful, empowered and truly themselves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Early in my career, I realized quickly that being a great makeup artist meant more than just having one signature style. I had to become versatile—learning how different products, techniques, and tones work across a wide range of skin types and features. That challenge pushed me to grow technically and creatively.
One of the challenges I faced was learning how to adapt my techniques to suit every individual client. Not every face shape, skin tone, or texture responds the same way, so I had to train my eye and stay flexible. Over time, I learned to ask the right questions, really listen and adjust my approach to make sure each client feels confident and truly themselves.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating camera-ready makeup that enhances natural features without overpowering them, whether for photoshoots, special events or on set. My signature aesthetic is all about high definition glam that blends elegance, precision and longevity.
I’m most proud of the versatility I’ve developed as a makeup artist. From soft wedding glam to editorial, commercial and runway, I’ve been able to adapt my skills to a wide range of clients and projects. It’s incredibly rewarding to know I can meet the needs of different faces, skin tones, and production environments with professionalism and creativity. That range has not only opened doors to diverse opportunities but also allowed me to build lasting relationships and a reputation for being both dependable and dynamic.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a shy kid, but I lit up anytime I was around music, art, or performance. Musicals and concerts were a big part of my world—they fueled my imagination and helped me find my creative voice, which eventually led me to makeup.
