Daily Inspiration: Meet Mollie Goodspeed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mollie Goodspeed

Hi Mollie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was 14 when I asked for my first camera, and from the moment I held it, I knew photography was something special. In high school, I took a photography class where I learned the basics of Photoshop, but more than anything, I fell in love with capturing moments that mattered.

In college, I worked three jobs just to make ends meet, and photography quickly became more than just a passion—it became a way to support myself. Before studying abroad in Oxford, England, I made a huge decision: I used leftover loan money to buy my first full-frame camera. It was a risk, but I knew it would help me build something bigger. That time in England became a turning point—I learned my camera inside and out, refining my skills and falling even deeper in love with storytelling through photos.

Not long after, I shot my first wedding while still in college. After graduating, I worked in ministry while continuing to photograph weddings, but eventually, my business grew so much that I had to make a decision. Going full-time was terrifying—imposter syndrome hit hard. Running your own business means you’re responsible for everything: finding clients, paying the bills, and making it all work. Without my belief in Jesus, I wouldn’t have had the courage to start my own business, and I wouldn’t have the passion to serve my clients as deeply as I do. I had faith in his plan and provision. I took the leap, and here I am today.

Now, I co-host a photography business podcast, and last year alone, I shot 35 weddings, traveled to Kauai and Italy, and photographed love stories all over the U.S. This year, I get to go back to Lake Como, and I still pinch myself that this is my job.

Weddings are filled with moments that happen once in a lifetime, and at the end of the day, the photos and videos are all we have to hold onto. My faith is what drives everything I do—I love serving my clients, advocating for their needs on the biggest day of their lives, and capturing the moments that mean the most.

It’s been a journey of risks, growth, and trust—but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At first, the hardest part was the uncertainty of a full-commission job. I had so many doubts—how would I book enough weddings to make a living? What if no one thought I was good enough? The weight of those questions felt overwhelming.

But in that season of uncertainty, I had to step back and ask myself: Where is my identity truly rooted? If my worth was based on my success, the number of weddings I booked, or how others perceived me, I knew I’d always be chasing something that could never fully satisfy. That’s when I was reminded of the foundation of my faith. The truth is, none of us will ever be “good enough” on our own—but that’s exactly why grace exists.

Now, I walk in confidence knowing that my identity isn’t in my business, my work, or even my talent—it’s in Jesus. I’ll make mistakes, I’ll face challenges, but I know what truly matters at the end of the day. And that truth has given me the freedom to build a business that isn’t just about photography, but about serving others with purpose and love.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m based in Fort Worth, TX, specializing in a luxury wedding photography. My approach is a blend of storytelling and intentionality—I don’t just take photos; I document the emotions, relationships, and once-in-a-lifetime moments that make each wedding unique. What sets me apart is the way I serve my clients, not just as a photographer, but as an advocate for their vision and a calming presence on their wedding day. I’m known for creating a seamless, stress-free experience, ensuring my couples feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. One of the things I’m most proud of is bootstrapping my business from the ground up.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Absolutely! There are several books and podcasts that have been incredibly helpful in both my business and personal life. How to Win Friends and Influence People has been a game-changer in how I connect with clients and build relationships, while Get Out of Your Head has helped me reframe negative thoughts and stay focused on what truly matters. For podcasts, The Photography Business Podcast has provided invaluable insights into running a successful photography business, The Bible Recap keeps me grounded in my faith, and Passion with Purpose Podcast is always inspiring when it comes to pursuing business with heart and intention. These resources have helped shape not only my business but also my mindset and approach to serving others well.
