Daily Inspiration: Meet Travanta Leflore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travanta Leflore.

Hi Travanta , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For me, the traditional 9-to-5 was never going to cut it. I’ve always known I was built for more — for ownership, leadership, and legacy. No one was coming to rescue me, so I decided early on to build my own way out. After losing my father two years ago, something shifted in me. That pain lit a fire. I made up my mind to carry the Leflore name forward — not just in memory of my dad, but for my future kids, my family, and my own standards as a man.

I started Leflore Premier Event Rentals LLC from scratch. No big investors. No handouts. Just grit, consistency, and hustle. I studied what people needed — quality, reliability, presentation — and made sure my business could deliver it. Over time, we began to serve clients across North Dallas, from upscale events to family celebrations, all through word of mouth and pure dedication.

But this is just the foundation. My vision goes beyond event rentals — I’m building a brand, a legacy, and eventually an empire. I want to be an elite, household name. A symbol of excellence and elevation. That’s what drives me. That’s what the Leflore name will stand for — now and in the future.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all — the road definitely hasn’t been smooth. When I first started, I was unsure about a lot. I wasn’t acclimated to how the business world worked, especially in the event rental space. I was spending excess capital hoping for a return, but the clients didn’t come right away. I had to learn fast — marketing, advertising, branding — all from the ground up.

Me and my business partner, Mitchell Salas, literally went door-to-door. We walked retailer parking lots — Kroger, Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, Home Depot — anywhere with foot traffic. Even with solicitation policies in place, we stayed respectful but kept going. We were determined. Every dollar I earned from my job went right back into building the business.

Being a minority in this industry brought its own challenges. Getting approved for loans or business grants is extremely rare. The odds were low, but I didn’t let that stop me. I focused on staying consistent and creative, even when I felt overlooked.

There were sleepless nights, tossing and turning, wondering if I was doing the right thing. But I kept pushing. I started showing up at Cars and Coffee meets to network with high-net-worth individuals and keep myself motivated by seeing what’s possible.

In 2025, I’ve seen the most growth and client activity compared to the year before. One big step was joining the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce — to connect with business leaders, expand my reach, and take Leflore Premier Event Rentals to the next level. We’re still learning, still building — but as they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day. And neither was Leflore.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work as a Senior Department Lead and Supervisor in Training in the Materials Department at Canadian Solar Inc. I manage daily operations on my shift, oversee material flow, ensure production goals are met, and support the team with both leadership and structure.

While I’ve been serving as the department’s lead, I’ve also stepped into the supervisor role, where I now handle responsibilities like team coordination, interdepartmental communication, shift management, and process improvement — all while completing my official supervisor training.

In addition, I serve as the Chairman of the D Shift Safety Committee, where I lead safety initiatives, organize weekly meetings, and ensure our production floor maintains a strong safety culture.

I specialize in logistics, team leadership, and operational consistency, and I take pride in being a dependable leader who balances accountability with support.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
First, have your goals written out — on paper, not just in your head. Clarity is key. Figure out exactly what you want to do, even if the path isn’t fully clear yet. Everything won’t happen overnight. I’m still learning, still going through growing pains myself, but that’s part of the business world and part of growth.

Whatever you choose to do, give it 100% effort. Stay consistent, stay grounded, and most importantly — keep God first. Even when you feel like you can do it all on your own, remember that it’s God who opens the right doors. He’ll take you places you never imagined were possible.

Don’t be scared to network. Use that expensive phone in your hand — send cold emails, reach out to businesses, build partnerships, and connect with your local community. Confidence, consistency, and communication will always set you apart.

One thing I’ve always believed is this: time is an illusion. Society trained us to live on a 24-hour cycle, but real change doesn’t follow a clock. One bold move or unexpected opportunity can shift everything overnight — but you have to be in position when it happens.

Truth be told, earlier this year, I was close to giving up. But that’s exactly when blessings I didn’t expect started to show up. That reminded me why I started — and who I’m doing it for. My family, my mother, my sisters, and my belated father — rest in peace. They keep me going. And I won’t stop until the Leflore name is a legacy.
