Hidden Gems: Meet Annabelle Carsey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annabelle Carsey.

Hi Annabelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always had a passion for design and beautiful spaces. I did two years of Interior Design in college, and then did a 180 and switched to Speech-Language Pathology. I followed my degree up with a Master’s in early childhood education and taught for 14 years. I stopped teaching last year and followed my passion for creating beautiful spaces by starting Annabelle Carsey Design. It has been interesting making a career change and starting a new business during Covid; however, it’s also been the most fun and so rewarding. My goal is to help clients create beautiful spaces that they love living in and coming home to.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a new business during the Covid pandemic was not ideal, to say the least! Having market and showrooms closed was tricky, so I relied mainly on talking to reps and ordering all the samples! Covid also caused major delays and backorders in production, which added time to projects. Despite all the craziness the pandemic has caused, the design businesses I’ve worked with and depended on have been wonderful, patient and made the best of a tough situation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Annabelle Carsey Design is a full-service interior design business. My goal is to enhance my client’s quality of life through design. The environments we occupy on a daily basis affect our attitude, our behaviors and even our sense of well-being. I want my clients to look forward to coming home, for their homes to be beautiful and functional spaces that are tailor-made for them and their families.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Design-wise I think Schumacher has a great blog, The Edit, and puts out a beautiful magazine, Frederick. They highlight designers, educate on elements of design, and always have interesting content. A guilty pleasure podcast I adore is Smartless. It has the best interviews and is so witty and funny.
