Hi Cherlyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Cherlyn Hayes and I’m a native of Dallas, TX where I have fond childhood memories and family ties. I attended Baylor University in Waco, TX and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems. A few years later, while I worked full-time, I pursued my master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University.
I’m truly passionate about Beauty Beyond the Crown® and excited about assisting others because I feel we’re all on this hair loss journey together. Please read My Alopecia (Hair Loss) Story and receive a deeper understanding of who I am and what my brand represents.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur hasn’t been easy by any stretch of the imagination. Securing funding to expand my company has been one of my challenges. I’ve financed my business mainly through my own personal funds (boot-strapped), business credit card, and profits gained and reinvested back into the company. However, to scale to the next level, there needs to be sufficient funding behind Beauty Beyond the Crown®. There are several ways this can happen either through a business loan, crowdfunding, grants, angel investors, etc.
Another challenge has been finding a business coach/mentor. Coaching and mentorship are so imperative and could be valuable during my entrepreneurial journey. This individual could provide me with gems that could ultimately save me from making avoidable mistakes and provide industry expertise and business insight. I believe it’s just a matter of time before I connect with the right coach/mentor.
I whole-heartedly believe in work-life balance, but it has definitely been a struggle. I work a corporate job during the day and switch gears to work my company in the evenings/weekends. I’ve made sacrifices to manifest a dream into a reality. Entrepreneurship can become overwhelming, and burnout can creep in, but this is one reason why it’s so important for me to take my time and not rush. The rewards will be greater at the end of this marathon.

Beauty Beyond the Crown® is a natural, plant-based, and clean hair care & beauty brand. In the near future, the company will expand its product line by delivering additional innovative natural, plant-based, and clean hair care products. Beauty Beyond the Crown® is also a movement to bring awareness to alopecia (hair loss) and inspire women to search deeper within themselves to rediscover their inner beauty, confidence, strength, and uniqueness while living with this condition.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel the key ingredients to my success is my passion and fierce determination. Beauty Beyond the Crown® will have a very positive impact on so many lives across the world. As I’ve mentioned before, this is a movement for me which fuels my willingness to continue pushing forward despite any obstacles. There is a long road ahead, nevertheless the future is bright, and I will remain optimistic and enjoy the process.
