Life, Values, & Legacy: Our Chat with Brian Lamb of Flytrex

Brian Lamb shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Brian, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Drone delivery is the future in America, no question. People are always wanting to get things faster, cheaper, and safer. However, drones still can have a negative connotation in some areas. People associate them with military and think they are dangerous and that they spy on citizens. However, our delivery drones do not have cameras whatsoever and they are fully automated using GPS only. We also get people off the roads which is safer for everyone. While I understand some of the misunderstandings and hesitations of drones, the positives greatly outweigh the negatives when done the right way.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the Marketing Manager for a new drone delivery service here in DFW called Flytrex. Think DoorCash or UberEats, but with drones!

We currently service the Little Elm, Wylie, and Granbury areas but we are rapidly expanding across the metroplex! We never upcharge on orders. We charge exactly what you would pay if you walked into the restaurant and ordered. We also don’t have tipping, because we use drones to deliver. All we charge is a flat $2 fee and that’s it!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever known. He would always sacrifice his time and energy to provide for my family. He would work multiple jobs so my brother and I could live the best life we possibly could. Even to this day he still works at 68 years old because that’s just who he is. Hard work is in his DNA.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Other people’s opinions of me.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Truly smart people never have to say that they’re smart. They just are. Big talkers are called narcissists not brilliant.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
The true meaning of life.
