Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Burton.
Ciara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was always intrigued by beauty and beautiful things since I was a little girl. Seeing my grandmother, mom, and sister style women hair and making them feel beautiful it just was a natural thing for me wanting to do the same! I started off in high school, applying makeup and doing hair for my fellow dance team members. I tapped in and out the beauty world for years. I finally decided to make it a more consistent thing last year by practicing and watching others with the craft of makeup.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh, the road on this journey has definitely been a tough one! I would say the struggle for me was grasping and keeping the attention of followers from my social media base to get my work out there. It’s something new to learn every day in the beauty industry, whether it’s a new trend or the hottest trend! The best advice to any upcoming MUAS or brand owners… is staying consistent! Know your work’s worth… it will be discouraging times where you feel like you’re being unnoticed but believe me, someone is watching so push through your difficult times and stay positive!
Please tell us about Sade’s Perfections.
I’m a freelance upcoming MUA and the owner of S’lash3d mink lash line! I specialize in makeup application and providing quality 3d mink lashes. I would say my proudest moment was launching my very own lash line! Yes everyone has a lash line… but I know my customer service skills and the quality of my products set me apart from any other company out there! I’m starting from the bottom, I’m very driven and take so much pride in everything my brand stands for! I have come across so many genuine people just by being myself in this industry, people from all over who genuinely support me!
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Yes definitely. Growing up in New Orleans, I and my siblings didn’t a fabulous lifestyle! We were far from rich, but our love made us feel that way! I was raised by my grandmother… she was a very strong woman. She taught me different values of being a hard worker that I still use to this day! With both of my parents passing away at such a young age… it has literally taught me how to be strong, and kind to those around me because you just never know what the next person is dealing with! It also taught me a sense of independence and help me to be driven with every goal I set. I have just been determined to be the best person I can and not allow my past to reflect on my character.
