Today we’d like to introduce you to Iza Erskine.
Iza, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my company about a year and a half ago after responding to a small job post on a local moms networking Facebook group that I have been part of for three years. She needed help with social media marketing for her local radio show and after six years of social marketing experience with a jewelry company I worked with I reached out to help. Shortly after her review of my work, referrals started pouring in. I have been able to hire two local moms who are now able to work from home and have been able to help small and medium-size businesses throughout the area reach their marketing goals and grow their business accordingly. We pride ourselves on honest feedback and up to date social strategies and information.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a business is hard work! I was blessed to have a group of strong women around me from multiple generations to guide me through the tougher parts of my journey including creating a business structure that can be woven into my life seamlessly. One of the struggles I have had within my business was knowing when to hire more employees versus trying to do everything myself.
Balancing new business while maintaining my life as a young mom, wife, and friend I have been able to use amazing women around me to ask for mentorship and open and willing to recognize their journey and obstacles and learn from them as much as possible. The biggest advice I have is understanding how important communication on all sides of the business, being transparent, and valuing yourself.
