Life & Work with Justin Hoard of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Hoard

Hi Justin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve played music basically my whole life. A lot of my earliest memories involve instruments and soaking up whatever music culture or experience i could tune into. My mother was a choir director so having the blessing and opportunity to play in church definitely gave me legs. And from there i just rolled with it. My parents got us drums and some guitars and it all just grew from there and Ive just kept going and charged at the opportunities that fell into place.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Umm… no haha. I mean but i think with anything you love it’s never easy. Creating comes easy. I got blessed with a lot of talent, imagination and appreciation for the arts that it’s helped a lot of good things flow out. But i mean you struggle. Music biz aint easy and it has a lot of hurdles. Self doubt, suspicions, laziness, discipline practices, distractions, money…. but with all that you know.. I love it! And its what i’m here to do so you roll with it. And i’ve learned you go through some things like that to prepare you for the better thing. Success comes with a lot of responsibility and it’s easy to blow it if you’re not prepared.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well I try to be active in a lot of avenues. I play a few instruments, I write songs, compose, produce, DJ, I attempt illustrations and paintings, I love photography and film….. so there’s a lot to get into and juggle. People take notice of all of it though which is dope. I take it pretty seriously in a quiet way so it’s dope that it holds up. And i don’t really know you’d have to ask some people thats a hard question to ask. At the end of the day I just try to be authentic and say something worth hearing and showcase things worth seeing while trying to block out all the noise. If i got an idea i just try to finish it for what it should be i dont worry about feedback that much. And i don’t have to cause it all comes from an honest place and I have taste and i know if i like it a lot of others will too, A lot of wise men have vocalized and proven that if you just put your God, your work and your purpose first it all takes care of you. And thankfully i’ve experienced that a lot.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Well right now i think a lot of that depends on technology and the peoples reception to it. But if i buckle down and keep progressing and moving forward i’ll be taken care of. Just being faithful. And i don’t give a shit about trends really haha just trying to keep the work honest and quality. That last forever.
