Life & Work with Remi Roy Osi of PodGround

Today we’d like to introduce you to Remi Roy Osi.

Hi Remi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Remi Roy Osi. I’m the host of The Driven Introvert podcast and the founder of PodGround.io, a learning and networking platform for independent podcasters.

My path to what I do today has been anything but linear. I’ve always seen myself as a creative. Curious, open, and eager to explore new ideas. That curiosity led me to pursue a master’s degree in Emerging Media and Communication at the University of Texas at Dallas. That experience truly expanded my world. For the first time, I had the tools, structure, and space to bring my ideas to life.

I especially loved the classes that pushed us to build things from scratch, tell stories, and experiment with different mediums. But after graduating, I struggled to find my place. My job didn’t feel like the right fit, and I found myself constantly asking, “What’s next?”

Eventually, I chose entrepreneurship. I launched a small business offering marketing communication design services to small businesses and enterprise teams. That gave me the stability I needed to keep exploring. It might sound counterintuitive, but having financial security allowed me the mental space to stay creative.

A few years later, I discovered podcasting. As I immersed myself in the craft, producing my own show and learning the industry, I started to see the potential. I realized there were real opportunities for connection and impact in the podcasting space, especially for independent creators.

That’s why I’m building PodGround, to support indie podcasters with the tools, community, and structure they need to keep going. I believe deeply in the power of independent media. Podcasting allows everyday people, entrepreneurs, creatives, community leaders, to share their voices and make a difference.

We’ve just launched our platform and are getting ready to roll out our first grant program for podcasters. I’m so excited about what’s possible as we continue to support the creators shaping today’s conversations.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been a road full of ups and downs and a lot of trial and error. I’ve done things, failed, learned from them, and then done it all over again. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Some lessons you just can’t learn until you’ve fallen flat on your face and figured out how to get back up. I’ve had business ideas that went nowhere, products that didn’t land, books no one bought. But every single one of those experiences taught me something valuable and helped me grow.

I love the quote, “If you’re not making enough mistakes, you’re not trying hard enough.” I truly believe that. The more things we try, the more chances we give ourselves to hit the mark.

So no, it hasn’t been a smooth journey. Along with the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, I’ve also faced personal losses and challenges. But all of it has built character, taught me how the world really works, and helped me develop the resilience to stay in it for the long haul.

And I’m honestly thankful for all of it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a writer, author, entrepreneur, speaker, and community builder. These days, my work lives at the intersection of podcasting and technology. I’m the founder of PodGround.io, a platform and community space built specifically for independent podcasters.

We’re creating something I believe truly needs to exist. A space that supports creators who are often overlooked. When people think of podcasts, they often think of big names or celebrities. But there are thousands of everyday people, entrepreneurs, creatives, community leaders, putting their voices out there. They don’t have huge audiences or big budgets, but they’re showing up and creating meaningful content.

The hard truth? Most of them don’t last. Over 90% of podcasters quit before their one-year mark, and many stop after just three episodes. That’s not because they lack talent, it’s because they lack support, community, and access to the right tools and insights.

That’s where PodGround comes in. We’re building a platform to help indie podcasters stay consistent, and connect with others on the same journey. From workshops and events to our tech platform that brings everything together, we’re focused on helping creators not just start, but stick with it and thrive.

What I’m most proud of is the community we’re building. Every event, every feature, every conversation is designed to make podcasting feel a little less lonely, and a lot more possible. It’s taken a ton of work and an incredible team, but we’re just getting started.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck isn’t really the word I use to describe how things happen, either in life or in business. I believe success comes when preparation meets opportunity. And when that happens, the odds are in your favor.

I believe in discipline. In showing up and doing the work, even when it’s hard. I believe in having a clear vision, dreaming big, and pursuing excellence with intention.

But I also believe in grace. In divine timing. In unseen hands at work behind the scenes. My life wouldn’t be what it is without all of those things.
