Meet Alexis Scott of The Balloon Lady Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Scott

Hi Alexis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started this balloon journey about 4 years ago. It was my daughter’s birthday and I wanted it to be so pretty but i just didn’t have the money to pay for decorations so I decided to do the balloons myself. I thought I did so good. I was proud of my balloons but looking back at it now, it was actually horrible. I kept saying “this is something I can see myself doing. It’s fun and creative!” I never took it serious until last year. My friends kept telling me I was so good and that I needed to take it serious.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy at all. Just getting the exposure and support has been the most challenging. I’ve wanted to give up and throw in the towel on numerous occasions but I know hard work pays off and my time is near.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a balloon decorator. I create balloon garlands, arches, columns, and etc. I originally started off just only focusing on balloons but I have slowly been transitioning into just overall decorating events. I’m most proud of the business woman I have become. I sometimes choose someone randomly and offer my services for free for their child’s party. I know what it’s like to want to give my children or loved one a beautiful party but not being able to afford it.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve had a great support system like my mom, sisters, My Aunt DD and Uncle Hedake as well as other family members to help me get my business off the ground. Whether it be just sharing my business with others or even trusting me with decorating an event for them when I was just getting started. My friends and family have been amazing. I never took it seriously and my friends Chris, Netra and Martessia with Twisted Fusion Dance Company would always say “Lexi you are good. You better stop playing and take this serious. It’s a lot of money in this.” They would have me decorate their family events and even dance competitions. Even my son’s football team the Triple D Buckeyes had me to decorate their football banquet and christmas party when I was just getting started. If it weren’t for that support I probably wouldn’t be taking my business serious to this day.
