Today we’d like to introduce you to Andreanna Taylor.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in Kansas City Missouri raised in Dallas Texas. I took an interest in painting about five years ago when I took an art history class. Being able to express myself on canvas is like no other feeling or emotion that I could ever have.
I love large canvases with lots of color and lots of texture. I love the ability to turn a smooth surface into something that you could not only appreciate with your eyes but something that you can appreciate with your touch.
Please tell us about your art.
I am an abstract artist who loves to create large colorful textured paintings. I use acrylic on canvas lots of paint lots of thickness.
I think it’s important for the viewer of my art to see it from a distance, but once they get up close they realize that it is a very textured surface. My artwork is a visualized mood, something that you see with your eyes, but also use your hands and fingers to truly feel the painting.
When people see my work online or on social media I want them to think wow that looks great but when they see it in person I want them to feel like oh my God this is something new, something different something I’ve never seen before and I just want to touch it.
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
It seems to be a little difficult for emerging artist to get Gallery representation or to have avenues where we can promote our work. I believe more and more Artist in Dallas are coming together and trying to promote not only their work but work of other artists that they may have seen somewhere or have done a show with so I do believe that the artist community is growing and looking for ways to thrive in Dallas. I believe more shows in Dallas that are representative of the extreme talent that exist here would be great.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
