Bree, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always believed that when you dream something with enough passion and energy, you can bring it into reality in a truly forceful way. Why? Because that’s what more than a decade in the marketing game has shown me, over and over again…
My dreams of bringing new ideas to life and helping curate impactful brands through effective marketing solutions started years ago in my undergrad days. Over time my experiences have molded my purpose and allowed me to work in a variety of roles that elevated my skills.
I grew tired of overworking to bring someone else’s dream to life, so I decided it was time for me to step into the spotlight. I searched for a word that would tell the world who I am, and before I knew it I’d decided to become Iconic. On August 23, 2016, the word of the day was iconic and it was the day that Iconic Minds Inc. was established. Webster’s dictionary defines iconic as to be widely recognized for distinctive excellence and of/or related to the characteristics of an icon.
From that day forward I’ve pushed with every part of me to become the visionary architect that brands and businesses need in order to maximize their full potential. My experience, the impact of the brands I work with, and my view have grown over the years too. That’s why I decided it was time for a change. I was no longer the fresh CEO from 2016, I was an Iconic Mind ready to make a lasting impact therefore Iconic Minds was rebirthed in 2020.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
By no means will I ever say that entrepreneurship is easy. We just make it look easy via automation, setting boundaries, and delegating tasks. In the beginning, it was never easy to do every part of the business alone while growing. Being the boss, hr, customer service, shipping department, marketing department, production, etc. It got easier when we tapped into our resources and actually invested in systems to magnify our time. It’s harder for small businesses but to be a black-owned AND woman-owned business intensifies the situation. I use to think that people give us a hard time until I had to change my mindset and realize that they just have higher expectations for me.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Iconic Minds will be opening enrollment for our fall/winter semester of the Academy of Iconic Minds that will feature webinars, virtual events. and more in September 2021. Our fall/winter 2021 collection of Iconic Minds Apparel is due to launch in October 2021. We also have new ebooks and products releasing. In God’s will, we’ll have a studio by 2022.
