Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Nickle.
Cassie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Is it possible to be an introvert around adults and an extrovert around young kids? That’s what I’ve got going on. Babies specifically. Babies are my jam. I’ve been working with babies since I was old enough to be a junior volunteer in the church nursery, and that’s still where you’ll find me every other Sunday in non-Covid-19 times. I once flew to Malaysia with some friends who were moving to help with their baby and preschooler while they got settled. Baby at a party? Dibs. Pick them up with your coat on your way out. Adults? Not so much. Teenagers? Lord, help us. But babies, with their chubby cheeks, tiny fingers, and smiles that sneak out while they sleep, they make my ovaries ache. Photography had been a hobby for many years, but when my sister in law had her second baby in 2016 and asked me to take her newborn pictures, that’s when my two loves collided. Photographing babies, why had I never thought of it before?
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
2020 began my fourth year as a part time newborn photographer, I still teach online English classes early in the mornings, and I teach P.E. at my kids’ school. Finding time to balance all of these things, along with the needs of my family is definitely a challenge. My goal, of course, is to grow my business to a full time career. While COVID-19 has definitely slowed this down, things are picking up again and the goal hasn’t changed.
Sweet Magnolia Newborn Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sweet Magnolia Newborn Photography is a full service, luxury photography company specializing in baby’s first year. Clients come to me, and keep coming back, for my client experience, classic style, and polished images. My artwork is created with a timeless, organic approach. I want to be sure these images look good in your home no matter where you move, decorate, or how long you have them on the walls. I’m also a fan of detail, I want to be sure all the fingers are just right, blankets smooth. When you look at my work, you’re looking at refined images. Clients are also drawn to me for my unique Reveal Wall Sessions, it’s not something most photographers in DFW offer. You get to come back and see your entire gallery printed on the wall, and leave the same day with product in hand. If you want to spoil your baby, I’m your photographer!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I currently have families that return to me for each new sibling, trusting me time and time again with their newborns. In the future, I hope to see and meet many generations of babies. I want one of my past newborns to bring me THEIR newborn baby. It’s weird to think about it but I want to witness legacies being passed down and me to be in the front row.
