Dallas is my second home. I came to the United States in mid-2015 and settled here in Dallas for my MBA study. Since then I have accumulated professional experience working in an incubator, accelerator, and private equity firm. After three years of experience learning different business models and immersing myself in the culture, my entrepreneurial mind started to push me into thinking starting my own business. Cupid stone, a jewelry business was born.
During my personal time, I love to do hot yoga as a way to bring me mental clarity and explore spiritual purpose. I also enjoy various types of fusion food, especially those mixed in with both Eastern and Western culture.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The challenges of starting a business are endless (as well as the opportunity to learn), we spend every day solving problems from inventory, marketing, business development, and other miscellaneous tasks. An example is to improve our startup visibility to customers while striking the balance of presentation. On a personal level, there is still a language and cultural adjustment for me as I have spent majority of my life in Asia, but I’m so lucky and grateful to have supportive friends who gives valuable advice and other assistance.

What were you like growing up?
I have always been inspired by my family business growing up, that means being exposed to different business environments and being solution oriented. Since my childhood, I have traveled to many countries to learn from their cultures, which helped me to become an open-mined and friendly person during my everyday life. However, when it comes to business, I’m driven and determined.
