Meet Janet Guzman of Designer Faces Makeup Artistry in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Guzman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Janet. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started working originally with a makeup company based in Maryland. I worked there for 5 years. Then, I made my move to Dallas where I decided to take it to the next level and open up my own makeup company. I’ve only been doing this for a year, but it’s been great so far. I couldn’t be any happier that I made that decision. I love being my own boss, working on my time, and the best part is that I get to be the one that makes them feel beautiful inside and out. It’s a wonderful, amazing experience. I just love what I do and I couldn’t have it any other way.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been an easy road. The competition here is crazy. Not only do I have to work against other businesses but YouTube also doesn’t help. A lot of people go to these so-called makeup gurus to get the makeup that they think they want only to realize what they see on the screen doesn’t translate to real life makeup. Another struggle was hiring additional artists. I think this was the most difficult part. I couldn’t find the right personnel to represent DesignerFaces. They either didn’t have enough experience or flat out did not even having a license. I want to work with only the best in the industry so that we can really make a customers makeup dreams become a reality.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Designer Faces Makeup Artistry – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
DesignerFaces does makeup and hair. It started with just makeup originally. Working in Maryland for 5 years with bridal clientele only, I guess you could say my specialty is bridal. Ultimately, moving here, I have had a little bit of everything. From brides, prom, quinceañeras, photo shoots, special events, etc. I’ve even done makeup for a tv commercial.

I want DesignerFaces to be set apart because of how professional everything is. From emails to set a trial, to booking, etc. I’ve had many clients booking with me because of how unprofessional other makeup places are. I had a bride come to me on the day of her wedding because her other makeup artist didn’t show on the day of! Truly unprofessional.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to hire additional hairstylists/makeup artists and soon be a whole glam squad. I also want to get licensed to do lash extensions and eyebrow microblading.
