Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Dickinson.
Justin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My photography journey began when I was 18 years old. I had just finished up my second semester in college when the phone rang. My sister Heather told me that she would get me a job. I didn’t hesitate; I was off to Maryland. My sister, a celebrity photographer, made me her “rodie” and assistant. I assisted her for a while on the rooftops of New York City, but never once picked up a camera. It wasn’t until I was discharged from the Air Force that I decided to buy my first DSLR. I found that photography was very calming. I began to photograph models and learn my camera.
One year later, I vowed to make a business out of my passion. I began to photograph weddings, birthdays, families, and even operas at Baylor University. Fast Forward to December 2019, I had got the call from a Veteran NFL Safety, Jordan Pugh. He runs a select youth football program called PPT Elite. He wanted me to come out and photograph his amazing athletes. I haven’t looked back! I have been super busy with photographing sports, such as; football, Track and field, volleyball, and baseball. Although I do enjoy photographing sports, I capture moments! Fast or Slow! No matter what it is, I will tell your story with my camera.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road. Photography is very subjective! I struggled along the way with harsh criticism and the many naysayers. Internally, I struggle with, “am I good enough.” A lot of us creatives think about that all the time. In the end, it comes down to you, putting one foot in front of the other, staying positive, persevering, and being a student of your craft.

MyJdProductions is a photography business. We are known for capturing the moments and telling a story through the lens. I am most proud of the continued opportunities to work with successful Highschool, College, and professional sports athletes. The majority of photography businesses will promise photo delivery in 1-2 weeks. I think what sets us apart from our competitors is that we deliver photos the same day in most cases.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
MyJdProductions is excited to be moving on to the second part of the business plan. Video! We should be up and running for video in 1-2 months. This was a recent decision to begin the journey to take MyJdProductions to the next level. One of my best friends, Tim O’Grady, will be my business partner. I am looking forward to getting the Professional Cinema Camera – C100Mkii in our hands and begin to record: sports teams, weddings, corporate events, and much more!
Also, I have recently become a part of Warrior-Patriot-Resource.org and will be using my photography to raise funds so veterans and first responders can receive german shepherd service animals at no cost.
