Meet Kehjaye of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kehjaye

Hi Kehjaye, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been entangled with the arts since I was 12. I started out doing theatre which branched to music, poetry and dance. I knew from the moment I first got on stage and exchanged energies with an audience it was something I wanted to do forever. Which is where I find myself now. Since I dabble in so many different mediums such as theatre, vocal recording/production, writing, modeling etc; it’s easiest to just chalk it up to say I am simply an Artist.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has had its ups and downs. Early on in college, I decided to leave early due to racial injustices. I was a Musical Theatre major which at the time was very on brand and promising but life happened. With that decision to leave being made, I had to take matters in my own hands as far as training, which is why I mainly consider myself to be self-taught.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would consider myself to just be an artist. I am an actor, recording artist, writer and model. I love collaborating with artist all over the country helping them bring their visions to life while also owning and perfecting my craft as well. I’ve done so much from performing on cruise lines, professional theatres and even toured in London. I think what makes me stand out is the fact that I am a jack of all trades, one art form inspires the next and I think that is super important as a creative. Having experience in various areas makes it hard for you not to shine always.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the night life most about Dallas. It’s always a good time. My least favorite thing about Dallas is the lack of opportunities available compared to other cities.
