Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Ady.
Hi Kevin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started Storied Roots because I felt there was a space for a unique, hand-crafted furniture store in the growing North Dallas area. My collection of pieces includes teak root furniture, hand-carved statuary, outdoor teak furniture, and a variety of interesting home décor pieces.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think it’s easy to say that the pandemic last year was tough. Its hard enough to open a new retail store, but then to be closed for so long, it definitely slowed our progress. On a positive note, it definitely gave people a chance to become bored with their old furniture!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am privileged to work with some amazing Indonesian furniture makers and artisans. They start by sustainably harvesting their own natural wood and stone materials, then transform them into beautiful pieces of furniture, décor, and statuary. Most of the pieces in my collection are hand-crafted and thus, no two are exactly alike. My product line includes 100% natural rattan furniture, high-quality teak wood and root furniture and décor, hand-carved, volcanic lava stone statues, and reclaimed fishing boat wood furniture and décor. It is my mission to provide my customers a piece that is unique, made with natural, quality materials, and sold at a fair price.
What are your plans for the future?
I am always looking to expand my product line to include a larger variety of unique furniture and décor options. It is also important for me to continue building my relationships with the local business and design communities.
