Lesley and Tamara founded MatchLine Design Group with a shared vision to provide relevant, current design for clients seeking affordable luxury. The duo, backed by their individual experience and 16-plus-year friendship, balance each other as they lead their tightly-knit, dynamic team designers to execute ideas with great care and attention.
Since 2009, the firm’s award-winning interior design solutions have transformed hotels, resorts, spas, corporate offices, multifamily properties and active adult living facilities located throughout the country into timeless interior environments. The team of designers has a robust portfolio of hallmark hospitality design projects under their belt earning them Hotel Management magazine’s notable title of Top Hospitality Design Firm for the past three consecutive years.
MatchLine Design Group is behind some of the most buzzworthy Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton, and Embassy Suites openings. Not ones to slow down, MatchLine Design Group completed Embassy Suites Amarillo and Embassy Suites Denton earlier this year and celebrated the topping off ceremony at Delta Hotels Dallas Allen & Watters Creek Convention Center in Allen last week.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For both Tamara and Lesley – the main challenge is juggling a good work-life balance, it’s even more difficult when both are moms.
There’s a fine line between being known for your timely responsiveness with your project team and being “on call” 24/7. Another major challenge is managing the ever-shrinking project timelines against the demand for “more for less”. Many projects have become so compressed that it forces the full design process to be rushed much more than it should be, and it can lead to unclear documentation or mistakes consultant-wide.
We prefer to be brought into the project team simultaneously with the architects; the sooner the conversation and coordination begin, the more cohesive the project will be. Both current and prospective clients will see the value that we all bring to the table.

What were you like growing up?
Curious to learn about the world around us, and of course fascinated with anything and everything design-related, from floral wallpaper to wooden furniture and kitchen surfaces. Careers in design came as no surprise to either of us.
