Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Scheriger
Hi Megan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Number one, the reason I am here or anywhere is all thanks to God. He has been my guide through this entire journey. I grew up in a small town in Brownwood, Texas. Met my wonderful husband, Andy, now of 10 years. We have 3 beautiful girls who basically run our small world, now aging from 8 to 17. I was a stay at home Mom for the most part until my girls were old enough to start preschool. I became a preschool teacher and taught where they attended school. I did this for about 7 years. Continued even after moving to the Dallas area in 2019. As soon as my youngest started kindergarten I decided it was time for a change. God was calling me to go to school. I attended Dallas Lash Academy as a part time student , driving to class everyday after work and clocking more hours on the weekends. I graduated earning a Cosmetology License with a specialty in Eyelash Extensions in 2020. Right in the midst of Covid. Why did I choose this specifically? I honestly don’t know because I had never had lashes in my life until I moved to the metroplex. Beauty was not something I ever dreamed of getting into. I just had this feeling that God wanted me to do this. It came time to go all in, quit my job and dive into this new chapter. I was scared. I will always remember my husband was standing with me in the kitchen when I told him I wasn’t sure if I was ready. He said “What? You don’t trust His plan?” That was my confirmation. I had zero hesitation and sent my boss the email that I was not coming back for the new school year. That was it. I transformed a room in my home, I started promoting myself on social media and it all just fell into place. I was now a business owner, with many hats such as customer service rep, sales and marketing, inventory, payroll, scheduler, social media manager, booking and accountant. I could not be happier! I get to make my own schedule, choose who I want to work with, close my books at anytime for family or emergencies without feeling the guilt of a boss over my shoulder. I get to drop off and pick up my girls from school every day. I can help my husband by contributing financially than I ever could. I love my job and the amazing clients I get to work with. It has truly been a blessing and it’s all thanks to Him. Eventually I want to expand. I’m not quite sure what that looks like but I know if I continue to grow my name and brand, God will open and close doors as needed.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Challenges? Who doesn’t have those? There was definitely struggles in the beginning and even now as I learn new things. I am always practicing and refreshing my skills with new trainings to keep up with the latest trends, styles, and techniques. The beauty industry is always growing and I think as a service provider, I should be growing too.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others? I will say that salons are like Starbucks, there is one on virtually every corner. What is keeping someone from going to one of those? Especially if it’s more convenient for them. I understand that convenience is important to some but I strife to create something that not every salon can offer. My clients get a one on one experience. I have a lash room dedicated to them, and only them . No waiting room and bumping into anyone. As you walk in, you are immediately welcomed with soft spa music to set the mood, dim lighting , candle lights and even rain water trickling in the background. I want every client to look forward to coming to every appointment. It’s a chance to relax ! Lay back in a comfortable recliner with a plush, soft blanket to make you feel like you’re floating on a cloud. It will be the best nap you’ll ever take. Not only that but every client will have access to my books to schedule , reschedule, message or request a certain service at the tip of their fingers. The best part is when a client opens their eyes. Their reaction is the absolute best! I aim to enhance their beauty, not cover up or distract. Natural lashes seem to be trending and I’m here for it! So convenience might be at the bottom of their list now. Not only do I serve the Frisco area but I have clients coming from all areas including South Lake, Sherman, Denton, McKinney, Prosper, Plano, Little Elm, Pilot Point, and further! It is my absolute pleasure to offer them the best experience. I have developed the most genuine relationships over the years.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Frisco, Texas will always have a special place in my heart. It is now my home and I’m so thankful for what this city has to offer. So many opportunities for my business and my family.
