Today we’d like to introduce you to Ressie G.
Ressie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Moving to Dallas in September 2016 has truly been a journey. From doors being slammed in my face to windows being closed, I had to build my own foundation and house. With new doors I kicked open, and lifting windows I have to say Chasing: Dallas truly has become a movement like no other. More than just a reality-based webseries, Chasing: Dallas has become a true help to advance the LGBT folk of color in the Dallas community.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been an easy road here in Dallas for me. With the show being something so far removed for the conservative southern town, I have to say that there has been a lot of struggles. W wise man once told me when your personal life falls apart you rise in success. I have lost friends, my dating life has been a mess, and my family has become a little foreign to me. Do I regret any of that. NO! Simply because I will continue to make sacrifices to help my community grow in respect and valor.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Chasing: Dallas – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
As an advocate for the LGBT community, I use my ability to produce content to help shed light on an already marginalized people. Chasing: Dallas is not only just a show, it is a way to actually expose people to a part of the community that you may not otherwise see the truth about on a mainstream platform. With Chasing: Reality, LLC being the overall company, we give an opportunity through entertainment for people to really see how advance we are a people. LGBT people of color are often counted out and we are here to place a bet on them and help them get ahead.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Dallas for how expedient it is becoming. If you find your niche here, you can progress. I don’t like how systematic oppression affects minorities here but it does show how we as an “othered” people have room to make change.
