Today we’d like to introduce you to Shatavia Reese.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shatavia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I would like to say having the faith of a muster seed got me where I am today. I’ve always been in the beauty industry, but I never took it seriously. It was always something I did on the side. At the time, I was working and in school to get me lash license, but as the saying goes “When God wants you to grow, He will make you uncomfortable.” I was so unhappy in Corporate America that I decided to step out on faith and take myself seriously! I never knew what was in store or if I would even make it, but almost two years later, I’m still standing. I would like to say it took a lot of sacrifices, praying, handwork, consistency, and most importantly, letting God lead me and my business instead of me trying to figure it got me to where I am today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, this has not been a smooth road.

Any time a person decides to take the big jump you have this vision that everything is going to be smooth sailing, and it’s going to be a piece of cake, but that is the exact opposite.

I have endured many struggles along the way. Some of my struggles were supported from family and friends, looking at my competitors and wondering am I good enough, building consistent clientele, not realizing how much you have to invest in yourself, and understanding that this hard!

One thing about struggles that I had to learn was to appreciate them! When I was going through these particular incidents, I could never understand why, but as the saying goes “Anything worth having is worth working for.” I appreciate struggles because it helps build your mental, and once your mind is strong, that is what helps build a better and stronger you.

My struggles taught me that no one owes me nothing so why am I sitting around pouting about it. Just because they not supporting me now don’t dwell on that. Never question if I’m not good enough because I am good enough for anything I put my mind to! If I want to be good, I had to practice until I no longer got it wrong! Stop playing it safe and blending in and make myself stand out! Understand that if I want to make it and be good a what I do, I have to invest in myself and in my product! I had to teach myself to dig deep, give it my all, and don’t be afraid. Block out anything that will get me off track because struggles are simply distractions and focusing on those distractions will get me unfocused on what my original mission is! Most importantly, struggles along the way taught me that if you’re in business for yourself, and you are not where you want to be, you have to blame yourself, and you’re either going to step it up and make it happen or sit around playing the blame game.

There are so many lash service salons, but The Glamoureese Life doesn’t just provide you a service that you pay and go we pamper you while you’re there. You’re in a relaxing and professional atmosphere. If you have to wait, you can grab yourself a cocktail or water, a snack, and enjoy a complimentary foot massage. A new pair of socks is provided prior to using the massager, and they are yours to keep afterwards. We also understand laying on a bed for a long period of time can be hard on your back and uncomfortable so we also offer a complimentary back massage while you’re getting serviced. As you’re leaving you can purchase aftercare products to maintain the upkeep of your lash extensions, and also provide loyalty cards because we reward loyalty at The Glamoureese Life.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I most defiantly have to give my clients/cheerleaders credit. Without their loyalty, referring, and sharing things to their social media none of this would be possible.

Secondly, my love/business partner Kelvin Lee. He is one of my biggest supporters. He is great at being my listening ear when things get hard for me, uplift me in everything that I do, inspire me, help keep me focused as well as motivated because he knows how passionate I am about my glam dolls, and this business, and he is someone who I thank and appreciate so much!

Next has to be my cousin/sister, Jasmine Hollis. She has been down with any and all my crazy ideas. She helps me so much behind the scenes and helps give input on bringing my ideas to life. Sitting on the phone with me for hours when times I felt like it was getting to be too much for me. Her mental support is what has kept me going.

My son Kaiden Smith for understanding the sacrifices mommy have to make to make things happen.

My Mother Grace Reese for not only being my cheerleader and asking every woman she meets “Do you wear lashes?”, but for always being there to help me with my son and never telling me no on those long days and nights that I have to work.

My Aunt Joann Houston for raising me to be this courageous and strong woman that I am today, and showing me you have to put in the work if I want it.

Lastly, God, I just have to thank God for guiding me along the way, making this happen for me, and showing me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me – Phillippians 4:13.
