Today we’d like to introduce you to Taneisha Fletcher.
Taneisha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
To begin, I am a real estate investor. I buy houses, renovate them and either sell them for a profit or rent them out. I begin investing as a whole around 5-6 years ago when I had my daughter. I grew up in Oak Cliff and we went through some really tough times. I am not unfamiliar with struggling, being in need, no heat in the winter, wearing hand me downs… etc.
So when I had my daughter, I knew I wanted more for her, to give her the best life possible and create generational wealth. So I started to really work on my credit and look into ways to make more money through investing. I started with CDs or Certificate of Deposits and Stocks. When it comes to real estate, I kind of lucked up, I ended up winning a settlement and used the money to buy my first two rental properties. I started investing in real estate as a side hustle but soon knew that working a 9-5 forever wasn’t for me, I HATE IT lol, So I begin to work towards investing full time.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not! There are many obstacles when it comes to real estate. For one, I knew I didn’t want to be in debt with a bunch of loans or asking other people. So I saved all my rental income and reinvested everything until I was able to buy more properties cash. I still continue to do that, but it’s easier now because I have multiple streams of income.
Please tell us about TD&F Investment Group.
TD&F Investment Group is a real estate investment firm. On my site, I have the properties I currently own and any that are available to rent. I also offer self-guided courses that teach you how to invest in real estate, rather it be through wholesaling, tax liens or plain flipping. There’s also a course that teaches you about starting a vending machine business, that’s the business I have for my daughter. I also offer consultation services for individuals needing a little more hands-on.
As far as being proud, I’m proud of it all. I’m proud of all the L’s I’ve taken and I’m proud of all the wins. I’m a young black woman from the hood that stepped out and did something that I’m not only passionate about but will make my great-great-grandchildren rich. As far as what sets me apart, I take pride in the properties I have. I don’t rush to buy any and everything just to make a few coins. I don’t mind waiting for the right property or putting in some sweat to get them in pristine condition.
I specialize in buy and hold or rental properties. For better perspective, at the beginning of the month I signed a corporate lease for one of the units I had on Airbnb and the investor paid up for the year so after negotiating for two weeks I had a pay day of over $30,000.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future, acquiring some commercial property, then getting some international property and then a private island. Yea, we’re going to be worldwide LOL. I plan on having multi-units and AirBnB’s in pretty much all the major cities; Austin, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Vegas, New York, Atlanta… it’s going to be dope.
