Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Szemett.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey into aesthetic nursing began in 2017 when I was struggling to maintain a work/life balance in Labor and Delivery. I had two kids at the time and I was commuting over an hour each way to a 12-hour shift. I was also working on my Master’s degree and it just wasn’t the best for me. I loved my job and my coworkers, but I decided to venture off on my own. I started The Fountain MedSpa and found my love for the aesthetic industry. I grew my business until June 2019, when I made the decision to join the amazing team at Refine Medical Spa.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been smooth, but it has always worked out. I married, had a child, and subsequently divorced very young. I finished my Associate of Nursing and my Bachelor of Nursing single with a small child and worked night shift for the first several years of my nursing career so that my daughter would be asleep while I worked. I started my Master’s single as well, but then met the most amazing man and my current husband and it has been much easier with him in my life. He is an amazing father and partner and his support has led me to be successful and allowed me to do what I love! My job is also my hobby and I never feel like I’m at work because love it so much.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My current company is called Refine Medical Spa. We are on the Southlake/Keller border and specialize in cosmetic medicine. I personally am one of the two injectors and I offer Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, Dermal fillers- lips and non-surgical nose jobs are my specialty, but I can completely rejuvenate a face with filler.
We also have an amazing Esthetician who is our laser and skincare guru. She can fix a huge variety of skincare issues as well as laser hair removal. We can stimulate hair growth for the head, fix skin texture, and improve sexual health for men and women with Platelet Rich Plasma, and we offer Microneedling.
What sets us apart from other medspas in the area is that only fully qualified medical professionals are injecting. Collin is a Nurse Practitioner and I will be one in May. Many of the other local spas allow estheticians with no real medical knowledge of anatomy and physiology to inject and we pride ourselves on only offering the best for our patients.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, I wouldn’t change anything. Every struggle I went through made me who I am and led me to find my passion.
