Meet Vladimir Meyman of Meyman Creative in Oaklawn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vladimir Meyman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Vladimir. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ever since I was a child I loved creating my own worlds. No matter if it was watercolor, clay, or elaborate scenes with toy figurines, I loved telling my own stories. Early on I remember being fascinated by photography slides. I would hold these transparent time capsules up into the light and allow them to transport me to another time. By the age of 18 I began working in the medium professionally and creating my own time capsules. I started out at my first commercial studio back when photo studios still shot in film. Shortly after I advanced to a larger studio, saved up to buy my first DSLR, and set off on my own. I loved creating entire sets with all the elements that I believe create a captivating story: quality of light, color, composition, styling, and the way that the subjects communicate within a frame without having to utter a word.

Has it been a smooth road?
I believe the obstacles we face as artists are mostly within our own minds. We strive to create something bold and controversial, yet sometimes to be able to create at all takes a certain amount of bravery. I, as do most artists, share these concerns that go along with self-expression; perhaps it’s this very lifelong struggle that ends up creating meaningful work. I feel that it’s my sense of duty to create and to, as Nina Simone said, “reflect the times in which we live.

We’d love to hear more about Meyman Creative.
Meyman Creative represents a compilation of my eclectic background intertwined within a variety of artistic mediums. I focus in the fields of photography and graphic design, but what sets Meyman Creative apart is that I’m able to provide a one-stop shop for my clients. If my client also needs copywriting, videography, voiceover, storyboarding, or social media content, I am determined to meet their needs. I’m humbled by the fact that my clients are able to trust me to fulfill their vision, and allow me to share my creative process with them.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Technology changes faster than ever before these days, but people will always have nostalgia for a more tangible experience. Much like how we still listen to vinyls at a time where any song is available at the click of a button, photography and graphic design are here to stay. I welcome the innovation that technology brings, but I value the classic process from which it originated.
